We stopped for some cream teas on the cafe side of the restaurant. The cream teas were tasty but a little expensive for the size of the scones. However what was truly bad was the manager, she was rude not just to us but to many customers around us. She scolded us one by one for “removing” the reserved sign on our table, even though her employee said it was a walk in table. She rudely told us “if you wanted to come here you should have reserved”. She also didn’t allow us to share our tea pot and refused to bring more cups. This attitude is honestly what made us leave so quickly, we were all uncomfortable and tired of being treated this way. It’s a shame because the cafe is very beautiful.

Very misleading wine menu, probably/maybe not on purpose. Reads like the price of a bottle of wine is 16gbp, when it's really 45gbp. Bear in mind, I'm not young, plenty of wine ordered, and never got it confused before in my life... Food is really good, but can't help but feel absolutely tricked by the wine list, everyone on the table who looked at the menu fell on the same trap of thinking second column was the price of a bottle. Also not happy with how this was handled by the GM. Guys, please fix that wine list...

So so love this place! We stayed at the Swan in October and had both dinner and breakfast at the The Gallery and everything we had from the entree to the tea was delicious and perfect presented. Our waitress was friendly and served us well. The space itself was so charming and homey you want to spend hours lingering over your meal and enjoying good company.

Lovely restaurant within the Swan hotel. The Western facing outdoor dining area makes for a great sunset dinner.

We had their seasonal lamb and chicken; both were exceptional between perfect cooking of the meat, and well thought sides and sauces. One can argue on the pricier side but worth the gustatory experience. The focaccia bread was equally superb and worth its own mention. The dessert was unfortunately not prepared with the same care; we ordered crème brûlée and lemon posset and both had a gelatinous texture unexpected for this type of dessert.

It was obvious the restaurant was understaffed with lengthy service, although nevertheless friendly. Whether this was due to staff also catering for a wedding on the day or the usual, be prepared to dine at a steady pace.

Overall we would come back, we would make sure to book in advance, and be more picky on...

The food was ok though nothing special but this establishment needs love and attention lavishing on it. It has absolutely no atmosphere and given its situation within the most beautiful village imaginable it really ought to be heaving with people. Quite a depressing evening given the lack of atmosphere and the general shabby interior. I felt as though I had wasted an evening of a lovely break in an idyllic setting. In fairness who knows what damage lockdown may have inflicted on the place but given it's the only other eaterie in the village apart from the hotel it should...
