Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Coventry

We ordered the hot milkshakes as they were something new to try. The barista started to make the first one, then for some reason threw it away, so we had to wait even longer. The place was not busy and in total their were 3 members of staff.

The barista then added 'milkshake powder' to the drink. When I asked what it was, and what it was for, the individual said they were just told to add it! A senior member of staff was then asked. This person did not know what was in it, but did offer to check on a fact sheet. I was also informed that they think it makes the milk thicker, as when they tried it without it, the taste and texture wasn't the same.

Not sure if their is any gluten issues with this, or allergy issues, so best to check or avoid it. I thought it odd to be adding something to someone's drink and having no idea what it was, but maybe that is just me?

Back to the drinks themselves. We tried the white chocolate and chocolate hazelnut flavours. The white chocolate was very sweet, so if you like sweet drinks you will love it. On arrival at the Gallagher Coventry Costa we received a warm welcome from the lady who took my order for 2 large lattes and 2 toasties, these were all very hot as you hope for. We had eaten and just started drinking lovely hot coffee when we informed by the other member of staff that 'they were closing in 5 minutes' this was followed by total attitude when we said 'our coffee was still too hot to drink quickly' and he offered to pour the remainder into takeaway cups which we rejected. I asked him for a refund on the coffee so we could go elsewhere which he refused to do citing that the till did not do refunds after closing time, although there was a couple of minutes before closing time. I have visited here before with my fiancé and had a lovely experience but the second time we visited here to have a quick stop off before shopping in the retail park we didn't have such a nice experience. We were treated quite disrespectfully by a member of staff called Rachael who works here. She was very abrupt, and didn't show much customer service towards us at all. She seemed to not want to be there and from someone in the catering and hospitality trade, I, myself know that the Customer is always right and she was just so rude. Maybe a course to brush up on her interpersonal skills would be a nice idea. I will not be using this drive in cafe until the problem is sorted.
