Dosa Mama — Restaurant in Coventry

Wow!!! So the first time I went was hit and miss. Hit with the food but miss on the time. When the food came it did not disappoint. Although my first experience other than the time was I major hit in the good sense of the word my second experience started to see some inconsistency’s. I just been to dosa mama and the wait time was not as bad as the first time but the quality had dropped… Two perfect dosa’s and 2 overcooked. When I went to critique my food the young lad told me you will get crispy dosa’s sometimes. I told him there is crispy and there is over cooked as I crumbled the dosa in front of his eyes. He said we will get it better for you next time. I said I’m not looking for a refund or another dosa but for someone else that faces this issue would be thinking “next time? What about now”. Interested in having some leftover or spoilt dal & rasam ? Interested in waiting 25 mins for a thali that's tasteless & bland ? This is the place ! When you inform the staff that "the dal is spoilt" their response is "it's OK sir, don't worry" ! As though we committed a mistake... The staff even challenged us saying he knew about rasam & Dal etc. Not a single apology, just the standard reply - "it's OK sir, I'll deduct £1 from your bill for having served spoilt curry" !! They went ahead & served the same spoilt curry to a different customer after we complained & so did the other guy !! Irresponsible, arrogant staff and unsafe food safety standards... Won't be going there again...

Our experience at this restaurant was quite disappointing. We asked for a table for 6, but they couldn’t accommodate us. The host rearranged some tables, but when we tried to assist, she responded rudely, saying it was difficult for them to adjust the tables back.

If you’re visiting as a group of more than 4, I wouldn’t recommend coming here. We ordered the weekly breakfast special, which included idli and uttapam, but both were hard and had no flavor. When we requested extra sambar, the staff rudely informed us it would cost £1 for each small portion. It’s not the charge that bothered us, but the attitude, as if they were doing us a favor by serving us.

Overall, the poor customer service left a bad taste, and I wouldn’t...
