Visited Farmhouse for the second time today and I just cannot increase the rating. Not that it was a bad experience - the food just isn't worth the price. I repeat. THE FOOD IS NOT WORTH THE PRICE. This is not a steakhouse and will never be steakhouse. If you order a steak, be prepared to be disappointed.
However, I tried the curry today - specifically the achari lamb and I thoroughly enjoyed. Would be more than happy to try another one... if there is a next time. Though, how am I paying £5 for a single naan? Which universe did this naan come from? What's so special about it? Please tell me.
The price of the Philly Cheese Steak suggested that there would be plenty of steak being served. Much to my disappointment, it was 60% focaccia bread, 20% chips and 20% steak. Why am I paying £34 for carbs which I can buy from Sainsburys for a tenner?
The drinks are double the price they should be - simple mojito for fifteen quid.
The dessert on the other hand was great. No complaints here. San Sebastian Cheesecake was lovely.
The service as usual, is fantastic. Cannot complain at all regarding this. Very friendly and helpful staff overall. It seems like you're paying a premium price for service and the experience. Probably wouldn't visit again.
Experience Number One:
We ended up getting two starters, the Bang Bang Chicken which was lovely and the Lamb Cutlets which I'm afraid to say were hard and chewy. If I wanted to do some exercise, I'd stuff my mouth with Starbursts - something enjoyable instead. Oh, they were also lukewarm might I add - not what I'd expect from freshly grilled lamb chops.
Mains, I got the Bombay Bad Boy recommended by staff which wasn't too bad actually, would I have it again - probably not. The gourmet beef burger I enjoyed, tender meat no complaints whatsoever on that one. My wife got the Chilli Chicken Mac which was pretty embarrassing in my opinion. I mean the meal has Mac in the name and it comes with a tiny little portion of mac n cheese on the side with a big lump of chicken. I genuinely felt bad for her and for that reason, I'm dropping my rating from four to three stars.
For dessert we had the Oreo Cheesecake. Did it taste like a cheesecake? Nope. Was it tasty? Yep, we both enjoyed it - but did they pick it up from M&S? Maybe.
The establishment is lovely with ample parking for visitors. The ambience is great and the service is fantastic. Please give a raise to the adorable gentleman who does the little voodoo show for every table once mains are served - he loves his job! For that reason alone I would consider...
Read moreI visited the establishment with my boyfriend this weekend, the farmhouse is always one of our favourite places as the atmosphere and service is usually top notch.
Shane our waiter was incredible with so much knowledge and a want to help. I couldn’t praise him more.
Unfortunately as I was eating my meal which was incredible the magician who is on site had an accident and spilt hot coal and ash from the shisha all over my food and hand. The staff noticed as soon as it happened and there was around 7 people at our table straight away which was overwhelming. They offered to remake my food straight away but my boyfriend was basically finished and given everyone staring I didn’t feel comfortable anymore so I advised them that I was okay and I didn’t want them to, to which they replied okay we will get that off the bill as I hadn’t even got half way through. The rest of the evening they kept checking in which made us feel like they were really solving the problem that had arose and accidents happen.
One staff member brought out a desert which I said it wasn’t the correct one that we had ordered, he told me it was on them as an additional apology. Again making us feel that they care for their customers. When we requested our bill a waiter that was on the location at the time of the accident got our bill from the bar area and looked confused he then went up to a staff member that was in all black before bringing it over. When I checked the bill they hadn’t taken the food off, thinking it was a printing error my boyfriend put the cash out with a tip for the waiter, and explained this to him.
Then I assume a manager came over to confront us on this which honestly made us feel like tramps. He tried to say there was “miss communication” which there was not. My boyfriend confronted him on this as to why I would be expected to pay for a meal after I had been told that it would be removed. Expecting me to pay for a meal that wasn’t even half finished that had hot coals and ash spilt into by staff is absurd. He demanded to know who had said this and kept pushing for us to identify the member but like I said there were that many people surrounding us I couldn’t remember who it exactly was without seeing him. After back and forth he finally agreed to take it off not after being loud and drawing attention to us to again belittle us like it wasn’t in our budget. This ruined the whole evening which is a shame as we love the establishment but I will not be rushing...
Read moreGood atmosphere and ambience Nice interior Big indoor and outdoor space Clean bathrooms Designated prayer area which was really nice Limited car space Good food large portions Nice presentation Super fast service Good customer service Bit above average price so be aware how much you want to spend Nice place for group meals
Fast service, food was brought to us almost immediately.
We ordered: Mac cheese croquettes Pizza kids menu Angus beef burger Lamb Karachi with naan
It was plenty of food for a family of 4, good portion size Mac and cheese was lovely and crunchy, it wasn't the cheesy type with stretchy cheese Pizza came with a big portion of chunky chips The burger was tasty too, nice messy chips and lovely coleslaw Karahi was spot on, not too spicy, one portion was enough to share for two adults. Naan really nice It was all served with sauces and salad which everyone liked too. Definitely recommend this place for a family or work dinner, very presentable to look and eat the tasty food.
Parking space might be a bit of a challenge. There is parking but it gets filled up fast, especially with all those fancy cars arriving there. So you need to park outside at the other stores parking. Also GPS gives wrong location, takes you to the back of the restaurant over the bridge. You need to come back and take the next exit.
I don't understand what is the new trend with reviews to compliment waiters? Every other review post mentioned this or that person. They are super attentive which is in a way a good thing but when it goes to that point when you are avoiding looking up, eye contact in case someone starts running to your table to guess your wishes, it starts making the whole experience a bit tiring... I went there to have a meal in a relaxing atmosphere, not to be surrounded by number of staff trying to go out and beyond to read my thoughts, just felt very uncomfortable. It's good to make your presence visible but that is pushed too much to a different level. It might work for those who love and desire that attention, feel good about themselves having someone constantly serving you but if you are hoping for a quiet enjoyable meal in your partner's company then you should make them aware upfront otherwise you will be surrounded non stop by the number of waiters waiting for...
