The Phantom Coach — Restaurant in Coventry

We took my partner's Father out for a Birthday meal. The place is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. Only 4 small things that let it down. The lettuce leaf on the starter was brown and dry underneath. When the waiter took our starter plates, he asked if we wanted to keep our dirty cutlery or if we wanted clean ones, where exactly did he think we were going to put the dirty ones whilst we waited for our main course? No we would like clean cutlery please. One of the main meals was supposed to come with peas but the peas did not arrive and no one came back to check if our food was okay, not wanting to spoil Father's Birthday we did not get up to complain. We came to this establishment because we were made aware that they did a Golden years menu for the older person at a slight discount. Father doesn't eat a great deal so this was perfect. We ordered at the bar and were told that the Golden years menu finishes at 5pm. You can still have the food but they serve a larger serving at the full price. What he actually got was more salad which was actually quite dry and too much for him to eat. Other establishments that serve the Golden years menu, do so until 7pm which is a more sensible time as anyone taking parents out probably do so around 6 ish after finishing work. We will visit again but if we're taking parents out with the family then we'll go where they serve the more sensible Golden years smaller...

We’ve come twice since the reopening, both times the food has been delicious.

Only problem is the staffing and the time it actually takes for them to get things done. The first time we waited 25 mins for drinks - this was on a Tuesday afternoon and there was no more than 15 people in the pub, they only came when we chased.

The exact same thing happened today, 25 mins and then the drinks only came when I went up to the bar to ask for them. The 2 girls were stood talking to each other seeming to ignore the drinks ordered on the app as when they did finally check there was 4 tables worth of tickets they had to do before ours.

The food was nearly 60min wait time too - with the pub only being about a third full. Then when the chips came out they’d been on the hot plate that long it took the top layer of skin off my finger when I picked them up off the plate. The staff member was still at the table at the time, she couldn’t care less. No accident form or even an apology. 15 mins then spent in the toilet running the tap so by the time I was back the food was cold.

I’m guessing they are still ironing out the issues with new staff/systems ect. If they can nip this in the bud now, it should be a lovely...

Absolutely shocking service !! came in last night as a group of around 20, due to the size of the group we pre ordered a week in advance with the promise everything would be in stock as delivery’s come beforehand, we waited over 2 hours for our food,was told 5 mins multiple times,after we had waited for a hour and 45 we was told there was no onions!! for the sizzlers.Shile waiting for food we ordered drinks on the app and received the wrong gin!! When the food eventually came it was clear to see chefs were making it up as they went along ,same meals served differently despite being the exact same order!! some had side salad some didn’t some were coated in different sauces to others despite being the same!! after our food arrived and we had all finished 2 girls on our table were left still waiting for there chicken wings, even tho someone else had them and had already eaten them!! Wouldn’t recommend the steak was ridiculously tough not cooked to how anyone had ordered it, wasn’t even edible!!! The staff behind bar were lovely and one girl in particular was fantastic gave us all drinks and puddings on the house, very apologetic and was lovely ,same cannot be said for the food...
