We visited on new years eve. We checked their website to see what time it shut and as it said 10pm we didn't rush. It was very quiet when we arrived at 5.30pm. As the store is always packed I thought great I can have a little browse and see what bargains were available. Just before six the staff began trying to get us to hurry up and finish our shopping. Gone were the friendly can't do enough for you staff and in their place were frankly mardy staff. The woman who rang our shopping through was tutting and shaking her head. And then when we didn't have enough bags we went back to ask for more bags we were met with a staff member who didn't answer the request she turned her back on us and tutted and sighe'd again. Very very very rude. Now I get that it was new years eve and I get that the holiday season is a long exhausting one for retail staff however while they were relaxing on Xmas day with their families I was at work supporting someone. I didn't exactly want to be away from my family on Xmas day but I certainly didn't put a face on at work for my client to see. The shop is always too busy and isn't big enough to accommodate the amount of shoppers that shop there. As a rule the staff are lovely but on new years eve they were a mardy bunch. Many thanks to the lads who tried to help us find the buscuits i was...
Read moreI stopped by Aldi the other day, as a strong proponent of shopping in the last hour. There were products sampled, payments entered, and I was therefore able to enter and leave promptly. I saw the beans in the cans, and I asked the staff whether they compared. They asked me what exactly my question was and I said 'why beans?'.
They felt this rude and obtuse, though it was presumably, or obviously, just a statement of fact. I was not wishing to be on the receiving end of expectations, though I wasn't not wishing, either.
I looked down and the floor beneath me could only be described as adequate. There was cleanliness on top of it, which I could quite distinctly see. Though I would hardly have expectations of dirtiness if I was more reasonable: I speak of expectations as one who wishes to see harm done, as a kind of perverse wish to avoid aspiration for fear of falling short, of being happy for fear of realising that such a state is impossible. So I thought, with the staff, that the state of the floor was neither disappointing nor exciting.
The atmosphere was loud. People weren't just angry, they were being really loud. And they weren't trying, I think it was the way it was because of other factors, such as the loudness of surfaces. The colours were loud, the textures loud, no temperance if you understand....

Just been to Shultern Lane, Coventry after filling up with petrol at Tesco next door. The roads have been dug up for months. Still a pain in the arse to get in and out.
Bought two Beer Bourgignon for tea. Got two just in case there wasn't enough meat in one for two people. Half an hour to get home with various sets of temporary traffic lights and diversions. Only to find they're two weeks out of date.
Bring them back!!!!???? Absolutely no way. Spent £110 altogether. Won't be returning to Aldi ever again. Zero resolution. Could have quite easily done telephone refund onto the debit card just like any other businesses.
Sainsbury's it'll be from now on....
