OK, so it seems to a cultural issue that a lot of Chinese establishments have below par service sector skills - especially interpersonal skills. Not a language issue, but not friendly, and this 'restaurant' is in 1st place. The maitre d' - from whom your first human impression of Wing Wah is going to be delivered, is the biggest obnoxious knob I've had the displeasure to meet. When asked why it was that we were sat in the bar area, when we'd made a booking, and then completely ignored as 'walk-in' customers were shown to tables was met with face to face reciprocation and being told to 'shut-up'. We would have walked if it weren't for the fact this was a celebratory booking and outside of that option. When ordering drinks at the bar, as a pre-cursor to the aforementioned, I was demanded to attend the till by a filthy dirty barman who clearly was beyond using his legs and had a face fit to start a bar-room brawl. When queried as to why he couldn't come to me he shouted, no exaggeration, shouted 'You order you pay!'. If you want a laugh on the premise of shocking customer service then this is the place. If you want courtesy then prepare to go short by a mile, that said the serving staff - mostly Eastern European, were delightful and a joy to have around. As for the main reason we were here - food, well bland, congealed and rarely topped-up covers it. As an end-note here's a pic of one of a variety of glasses used for pop - like something your Nan would produce from the cupboard as her 'big-glass'. Kinda says it all about Wing Wah, don't come, it's shocking. Si.

After reading a lot of negative reviews on TripAdvisor I wasn't going to go but then compared to Google review that had more positive reviews, I thought I'll give it a try. Also since there is no other buffet open that close to me. I was pleasantly surprised that it was nice inside, the layout and decor. I was also surprised with the variety of food and they were separated into different island for starters, soup, main, dessert and tepanyaki. We went on a Sunday lunch time which is surprisingly more expensive than Saturday by £2. But still for £12.99 pp it's still a good price. I'll be coming on Saturday next time 😁. The food tasted good and lots of selection. I took one star off cos of no sushi. I love sushi and there was none for whatever reason. Staff we're friendly enough and prompt with taking away our used plates. There are sanitisers and plastic gloves near the food islands. They don't enforce wearing masks. I'll be coming back again my family enjoyed it. For a family of 6 just over £50 well worth it!!

So went here Sunday been before at lunch time and it was okay for the time and stuff food was a little dry expected from being a buffet and a slow period. Went on the Sunday just at the start of the dinner time and food wasn’t bad few bit were really nice some parts a little under cooked etc but overall food is okay. Service wasn’t great left stood at the front until we spoke to the man behind the counter even though the sign states wait to be seated. Took us to our table had bad service skills asked straight away what drinks no thank you enjoy your meal etc just a grunt and off he went. The tables were clean etc but it was very cold where we were sat my partner sat in her coat was quite bad breeze in there. Overall the experience was okay, as this is one of the only buffets now in Coventry was a bit disappointing won’t be in a rush to go back though for £15 per head.

Well, where to begin with this place. I’m going to share my trip, so that anyone thinking of visiting can learn from my experience.

On entering, you are made to queue to allow you to book in etc, this is fine. Usually places book you in and find your seat/take you to your seats.

What I wasn’t expecting, was to pay upfront - before even having any food. While some places may do this system to save on time, it gives off the impression that they do not trust their customers.

The other weird thing about this system is that the drinks are then paid for separately. Which I find strange.

When we had finally paid for our food/drinks we were show to our table. A table which wasn’t very clean at all. Food underneath the table and dirty marks upon the chair.

Then our drinks arrived. Well all I can say is, one sip made me feeling nauseous. I don’t know whether it was the quality of the drink or they hadn’t mixed it right, however I paid £3.09 for a drink I wasn’t able to finish.

Then, as with the “all you can eat” style restaurant. It was time for food.

If I was hoping for a delicious Chinese meal, I was disappointed.

The food was Hit and Miss. Some food was fine and actually tasted quite nice. But other was lukewarm and very oily.

Of course being a Saturday night, I can appreciate the place being busy. However, it was so busy that the servers/kitchen staff couldn’t keep up with demand.

Whenever they topped up the food, it soon would go. I had barley anything to eat, because there wasn’t that much choice.

Added to the lack of food and the fact that the drinks made me feel sick, I barely had my fair share of food.

What’s more, and this is the finale of my evening. When we made a complaint (not a rude or aggressive complaint, but a polite one). We may have not bothered.

The managers on duty at the time couldn’t care less. They had our money already so why would they bother listening to what we had to say.

Safe to say I left underwhelmed and disappointed. I can assure you I shall never be going again.

And although I didn’t go to the toilet, I was informed by one of my party that there was no soap, broken hand towels/dryers and poor cleaning.

So if you’re sitting there thinking about going, I urge you not to. Or I can only caution you.

That had been one of the most disappointing places I have ever been...

This place should honestly be shut down.

There is absolutely nothing redeemable about this establishment beyond the waiters who, bless them, were trying their best in what can only be described as a culinary graveyard run by people who clearly don’t care about food, customers, or basic hygiene.

We walked in and were hit with the kind of dead atmosphere you only find in places that have completely given up. The food looked like it had been sat under heat lamps for 12 hours straight!! colourless, lifeless, and honestly offensive to look at. We tried to give it a chance, but every bite was worse than the last: bland, soggy, stale, or dripping in oil. It wasn’t just bad… it was disgusting. The so-called “Indian” section looked like it had been scraped off the floor of a school canteen. We didn’t dare go near it.

Then came the dessert area, which genuinely made me feel sick. Cakes that were harder than bricks. Ice cream machine? Broken. And the chocolate fountain, don’t even get me started. Children were literally dipping their fingers into it, licking them, and going back for more, completely unsupervised. Not one staff member intervened. It was filthy. Honestly, I’ve seen cleaner standards at motorway toilets.

At this point, it was less of a meal and more of a survival experience.

My partner and I sat in the car afterwards, in silence, just trying to process the utter violation of our taste buds. So I went back in — calmly — and tried to give management a chance to at least acknowledge the experience and offer a partial refund.

What I got was laughable levels of unprofessionalism. The owner couldn’t be bothered to deal with me and literally pushed me onto a staff member like I was a chore. That staff member proceeded to sigh and roll her eyes as I explained the issue. No apology, no refund, no responsibility. Just complete indifference and arrogance from people who should never be running a restaurant.

The food is a health hazard. The service is a joke. The management is a disgrace. And the entire energy of this place screams cheap, dirty, and uncared for.

This wasn’t just a bad meal ugh it was an experience I genuinely regret. If this was the last place left on Earth to...

Booked in advance to dine at Wing Wah Coventry to celebrate a loved one’s 60th Birthday on New Years Day. Deposit paid in advance to secure the booking. The booking had close to 30 people in attendance which meant we were placed in a karaoke dining room set up.

Upon arrival after speaking with management on the front desk, we were informed that due to the fact that not all 30 of us had arrived in an already crowded entrance, we could not be seated in the booked room. This left me confused as to why they would not seat us to make room for other customers who had not booked to dine in the evening. Shortly after all of the party had arrived we were finally seated in our karaoke room. The chaos really begins at this point… Management began demanding full payment and this was to come from the same person who made the reservation. Had this person not been in attendance this would have been problematic as they would not accept payment from multiple persons under the same booking like other restaurants allow you to do. When we were given the bill they demanded payment for it was incorrect as they had charged adult prices on the children. When this was queried, staff including management did not want to listen to sort out the billing issue. To ensure the bill was correct, we took it upon ourselves to count those in the party and inform management. Management definitely need to improve communication skills as during the sitting there was a lot of talking over customers and not a lot of listening to come to a resolution. Food within the establishment was as expected from a buffet, nothing special. Drinks ordered via the QR code took a while to arrive and were overpriced.

Would not recommend going here purely because the level of service was poor. In a place which seems to be a small business you would assume customer service would be very important as you want those to spread good words about your restaurant. This is clearly not the case and they do not care about the customer who is essentially keeping the business going. Save yourself the aggravation and go crazy at...
