A welcome addition to the paucity of almost-affordable food here, but it quickly slumped. Staff numbers appear to have fallen, and those that are left are moving like sloths on mogadon. The iconic Greggs item is the steak bake; three out of the four times I have been in, the response (when I eventually got served) was "Oh, they're not out for another five or ten minutes". This was said when I was already holding other hot items. Which would clearly have been cold by the time the last arrived.
A victim of the standard Gatwick problem: nowhere reasonably priced for staff to eat whether airside or landside, as well as multiple other job vacancies in the area that will presumably pay much better wages .
It was a nice idea, being able to grab something hot on the way into work that didn't cost both legs and an arm, but waiting in a slow and uncontrolled queue for at least five minutes, then being told to wait another five or ten minutes while they cook the stuff, means that it is useless for someone on their way to work.
And for god's sake, it DOES NOT TAKE FOUR MINUTES TO MAKE A CUP OF COFFEE...
Read moreFood is good and as expected of Greggs. The staff are generally very hard working and helpful. It is also a very affordable option.
However sadly it often attracts the type of moronic customers, where you genuninely wonder how they have managed to put their socks on in the morning. Let alone how they have made it through international travel and across the world to Gatwick successfully. To then be unable to be orderly and civilised in an airport bakery cafe. It would be nice to see a clearer and enforced queuing system to make it super easy for some of the more 'simple' customers, who have difficulty understanding they can't just push others out of the way and shove to the front like pigs at a trough. Or are unable to keep their unruly children calm and controlled, so they are not hyperactively running at full speed into vulnerable customers, or tripping up adults with hot drinks by getting under their feet. Ultimately it's the parents' responsibility to explain a cafe is not...

"Lady" (black female with three butterflies tattooed on the right side of her neck) must be within 1% of the nastiest people in Britian. She was staggeringly rude and dismissive during my first ever visit on 2nd Jan '24, barking orders at customers, throwing food on the counter, deliberately avoiding eye contact by looking away when spoken too. All I said is, "Hi, may I have..," to which she reacted like I killed her father with a ravioli. She treated the person ahead and behind me in the same unpleasant way. She clearly doesn't want to be there, Greegs should assist her to the doors....
