Probably the worst wetherspoons I been to in years You're sat waiting for your flight with the sick lame and lazy people elbowing you in the ribs and standing in your way as you try and eat what's the most mediocre, lukewarm, runny breakfast you could have! Ordered from here this morning at 8:20am at the bar unfortunately it was either cave in or starvation and the extortionate price I paid for the food I was presented with was absolutely disgusting There was 2 girls serving at the bar took ages others were pottering around or just stood there there's only 2 tills open at one of the busiest times in the morning cash or card option The girl I was served begrudgingly took my order and as I ordered extras it seems your staff either can't count, ripped me off as I didn't go for your small/large breakfast "deals" advertised on the menu I wanted 2 slices of toast, mushrooms, beans, bacon (which I didn't eat as it was missing but I still got charged for it!) 2 scrambled eggs I totalled up the price before handing over £20 and will attach it as proof so hopefully other future customers will see and check their change and request for missing items like I should have done! Being hangry in an airport having everyone dying of the flu whilst you find a clean table and eat what food you have time for and then having items you wanted and paid for missing is not good enough Overrated place in the middle of a busy airport, limited space to sit down you should be ashamed of yourself over charging people taking advantage of their hunger when there is a cost of living crisis short changing people and not providing what they ordered to eat You don't even deserve a 2 star review as the food was so appalling the toast went down like razor blades in the throat butter stone cold so wouldn't melt I'm sure prisoners eat better than paying customers Hope you enjoy the £3.40 you stole off me in change maybe put it towards the other decent staff who work hard here for their wages who are left cleaning tables that some lazy people leave in a state Customer service skills at the bar non existent you'd get more interaction out of zombies Would not recommend and will not be back on future visits to this airport

I decided to have a burger before I boarded my plane to Dubai. For under £ 14 I was very impressed. They even had a good selection of sauces.

You usually know what you're going to get at a Wetherspoons pub: Cheap food and drink and average service. The Red Lion being in Gatwick North airport makes for a different experience. For starters there's no bespoke carpet to stick to, but you do have a bit of a trek to the nearest toilets, so at least least some traditions have been kept from the high street venues. Unfortunately, as you may expect with it being at an airport, Wetherspoon prices are cranked up to beyond the average high street price (£6+ for a pint of lager and over £9 for a panini roll with chips or salad). As it's the start of a holiday I thought I'd treat myself anyway as there's only so many times you can walk round WHSmith without raising the suspicion of staff (do people actually buy anything from there?). With a couple of hours to kill thanks to a flight delay I felt sure I could order and consume things without getting indegestion. Indeed, the pint of San Miguel arrived promptly after I'd ordered from the comfort of my stall. I could see a waitress with a panini doing the rounds of the tables a few minutes later but my efforts to make eye contact were in vain as she took it off to the bar and spoke to a colleague who pointed in my direction. Lunch was eventually served. It's a shame the panini looked like a 747 had run over it. I've seen thicker pancakes. The accompanying chips, however, were well cooked well(can't really go wrong cooking a chip, surely?). Acquiring a bottle of vinegar to go on them was a challenge as I didn't want to leave my food, drink and case as I hunted one down (apparently they are stored on a table at the bottom of the stairs to the upper mall), but eventually managed to flag-down a rushed waiter who nabbed one from another table. The staff were polite and very on-the-ball considering how busy it gets - they've even extended the dining area out into the main part of the departure area. A larger plane departure screen would be appreciated for those of us without 20/20 vision, but that's likely the airport's issue rather than the pub's. And more vinegar bottles!

On Wednesday 31st July, my daughter, granddaughter and I, at about 2.30pm, ate here before our flight to Spain. My daughter had the all day brunch, my granddaugher had a children's meal and I had a cheese and ham panini. The food arrived in 10 minutes. We arrived at our hotel in Spain at 9.30pm and at 2am in the morning (Thursday), my daughter was violently sick, threw up the contents of her stomach for about 2 hours with severe stomach cramps. She was almost admitted to hospital. I began to feel sick in the morning and was also sick with a terrible headache and spent the whole of our first day in bed.

My daughter said her sausages were hard and had a strange texture and I suspect it was them that made her so ill. We only ate at the Weatherspoons Red Lion the day we flew so we had to be poisoned from there.

How can they bring the food out so quick? it must have been pre-cooked and not stored correctly or not cooked thoroughly. We did see another review on here, another case of food poisoning and the review was posted at about the same time we travelled, it now appears to have been taken off.

We paid £37 to be poisoned which almost ruined a very expensive holiday!!!!!!!
