Frankie & Benny's — Restaurant in Dacorum

Absolutely awful!

Arrived and we were shown to a table quickly, but it all went down hill from there! We ordered and it took a fair while to come considering there were only four tables sat in the whole restaurant. When it did arrive, only one of us got our breakfast, my mum had finished her muffin by the time my fruit salad arrived (because apparently it takes 35 minutes to make a fruit salad)

We reordered our food considering a good deal that you can the same breakfast for free at breakfast times so we took full advantage of that. The 'poached' eggs came out GREY and nothing less that a mess which were cooked right through. My mum immediately said to the waiter... we will not be eating them, and for that to be changed. He made no expression and just picked it up and took it back to the open kitchen. It came back to the table looking a little better, they were white but again not running like they describe on the menu. However, the eggs had just been taken off the muffin and replaced, therefore everything was cold and soggy underneath... absolutely disgusting and wasn't even eaten (a part from the tiny bit of smoked salmon, which we paid almost £3 for).

We also asked for another coffee and tap water, which finally arrived after asking for it twice!

After getting the bill there was no apology for eating separately on both occasions. No apology for the appalling food. Furthermore, as we walked out the blonde lady who I assume was the manager as she was wearing a white top and jeans which was different from the waiters uniforms, was smoking outside the restaurant and then serving food!!!

As somebody who works in this industry this place is a shambles! And I would AVOID THIS RESTAURANT LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

It's a shame because we normally enjoy frankie and benny's restaurant, but this one should be reconsidered by...

1 star is generous enough after my experience today. Be warned this place shocked me with their level of service and quality of food. I used to like Frankie & Bennys but now I will NOT be going back there again. Starting of by missing breakfast and told so by the staff who didn't bother to greet first Instead took pleasure it seemed as I was browsing the breakfast menu. Not a problem really as I don't usually look for faults until they become too much. ...as they eventually did. I wanted a milkshake....no ice cream. No problem just a squeezed lemon in water will do as you cannot possibly stuff that up. Lemon water comes and tastes more like soap water....well at least they use soap to clean so that's good. Now food.....right. A goats cheese and avocado wrap. This wrap did not have any cheese inside. None at all. Maybe a few pieces of avocado but mainly brown lettuce tomato and lots of balsamic vinegar. It was horrendous. For £9 no way. McDonald's just next door had a CHICKEN wrap for £1.99 that was higher quality. By now I'm angry and bitterly disappointed as was looking forward to spending the day with family who I will not be seeing on Christmas day. And do you even think the staff gave a care in the world? It was shocking. I have pics of the food that I will upload to their Facebook page and if they qualify to be on TripAdvisor maybe upload there too. I don't complain much. But here I shall. I shall warn the honest hardworking people to save their money rather than waste it there. I'd pay for quality and service. But it doesn't exist there. Had a pretty bad time here tonight. To set the scene the restaurant was completely dead. My table and another table of maybe 6 or 7 people. We ordered our drinks and waited. And waited and waited. 15 minutes later 4 drinks come back, not sure what took so long seeking as two of the drinks were bottled and the other two were on tap. We then ordered two burgers and a dessert. We were kept waiting for 45 minutes, bearing in mind there was only one other table who had already eaten. Kitchen staff only had to make 2 burgers and a dessert. The kitchen is opened into the restaurant area so you can see in. I didn't see any staff in there until maybe half an hour after we ordered our food. Eventually our food came. One of the burgers was burnt and the other was very gritty. The dessert was ok though. After we had finished we were forgotten about. We could have walked right out and not one member of staff would have noticed as they werent to be seen. We had to go and find someone to get the bill, even so we were left waiting yet again do we decided to find another member of staff to pay and even though they did apologise for the wait, we believe we should have gotten at least 20% off due to terrible service from the team.
