Something has changed, and not for the better.

My Simmons breakfast this morning arrived with toast stacked on top of my breakfast instead of on a side plate as it used to, resulting in the loss of a few mushrooms to the floor, and no butter given. I got up and asked for butter at the counter and was told that they would bring it to my table. A ramakin of non dairy spread was brought to my table (which I do not eat) but the waitress had gone before I noticed, so I had butterless toast, as my breakfast was now getting cold.

I was told afterwards that "butter is now optional".

When ordering my breakfast I was asked if I wanted white or brown bread and whether I wanted tea or coffee, but was not asked whether I wanted dry toast, butter, or non dairy spread.

It never occured to me to declare my preference, as Simmons Breakfast always came with 2 toast and butter on a sideplate.

Be sure to ask specificaly for "salted dairy butter" when ordering (if that is your preference), and order the "Mini Breakfast" if you don´t want to loose your mushrooms to the floor.

Everything was perfect until the table service began.

The staff behind the counter were lovely, but one of the table servers made us feel as though we had a bad attitude for no reason. She placed the cakes on our table by leaning over my head and almost throwing them down. When she returned with the teas, her manner was the same, unfriendly and dismissive.

Not all of the staff were like this, as some of the servers were very pleasant and welcoming. However, the younger one seemed unhappy and it really affected the experience. A little more training would make a big difference, as this place deserves service that matches the quality of the food.

On the positive side, they have an excellent sandwich selection and delicious cakes, which I would definitely recommend. I just hope to avoid the unfriendly service in future.

Diabolical cold customer service from some staff members inc making of simple takeaway cheese salad rolls with no care in the world of health & safety cross contamination of using the wrong utensils - ie: using the same knife to cut meat & then cut bread & vegetables & using the same tong for meat & meat free items

Floor was dirty as all rubbish brushed to 1 corner & not picked up

Tong utensils all piled up together - whole idea of different colour utensils are for different food items

Have had issue before from a certain member of staff that doesn't close the coffee cup lid properly & spillage all over clothes & in car
