Hi, I visited today with my son's. We waited at the ice cream/take away counter, where someone had just been served. A more mature lady told us they were no longer serving there as it was busy and not enough staff, which was absolutely fine. So we joined the queue inside the cafe. We got to the front of the line and the young girl who was serving at the time said all take away and ice cream orders to queue outside, so others behind us ran to the queue. We waited where we were, at the front of the queue. I explained that we had been told to queue inside due to staffing. the young lady rolled her eyes and said do you want ice cream to which I replied yes and milkshake to take away, her response was a huff and said well I will serve you now. I was very polite and asked what milk shakes flavours do you have, she gave no eye contact and spoke like I was a massive inconvenience and said "any of the ice cream in there" so I said vanilla, I then asked my son to choose what ice cream he wanted as I don't think the lady is very happy with us. Maybe she heard us I'm not sure. but the customer service I received today was very disappointing and customer service skills for this young lady certainly needs more training. I have been to your cafe many times which is lovely and will still continue to use as the food and choice is lovely, but I feel I need to bring this to your attention as if it was my business I certainly wouldn't want staff members treating customers this...

Food and coffee ok... But shocking customer service. I asked for a club sandwich that they had one the specials board. When it came it had bacon, chicken cheese and pickle on it. So I took it back because after all the years I have ever had or ordered a club sandwich it's ALWAYS been bacon, chicken, lettuce, tomato with mayonnaise. Then I heard the woman chef (Mel - she was the manger for today's shift) say to the waitress that I need to read the board better. Now I'm sorry Mel but that is shocking and rude behaviour from yourself. As you will see from the photos below that your specials board has no description of what was on your version of the club sandwich. But seeing as I though you were rude to me, I thought I would still be kind enough to send you the details of a what should actually be on a club sandwich - see pics below (just Google club sandwich) so maybe you either change your specials board and put a description of what's on the sandwich or you can just educate yourself on what a club sandwich actually is. Been to this cafe a good few times over the last few years, but I assure you after today it...

My wife and I had a meal on Saturday afternoon. We were visiting Matlock after exploring Bakewell and Matlock. The location is good being in the Hall Leys Park. The service was good. Although there was only one toilet (it's clean and nice) which led to queues. The service was quick. My wife had the soup of the day which was cauliflower soup with a roll. It did seem poor that to have a simple breadroll it costs 1.25 extra. We both had beef and ale stew in a Yorkshire pudding. My wife liked the cauliflower soup and it was extremely filling. The Yorkshire pud was strong and robust and could hold the stew, it tasted fairly soft and was easy to eat and the beef stew had plenty of meat with the potatoes. It was 9.95 so whilst expensive for the type of establishment,...

I visited here recently with my daughter, & decided to sit inside. It was lovely to see that there were various toys, & colouring crayons, to keep kids entertained whilst waiting for food. I decided to go for a flat white, & for food I had the lasagne which was cooked & tasted perfectly. My daughter had the jacket potato with chilli con carne. We didn’t get any desserts, but I did get a bag of sweets for my return journey home. The staff were helpful, & pleasant, when severing me, brining our drinks & food to the table.
