The Lamp Tavern used to br a great pub. When the old gaffer was there it was great. unfortunately the New gaffers have given it dark undertones of a grotty council eatate pub. with both of the gaffers constantly drinking in the bar as aposed to working in it. It gives an air of sloppy untidyness about the pub.
I get the impression they are not quite honest. and have alot to say behind closed doirs about Head measurements and ethnic backgrounds. not too mention assosiation to certain "gang" related activity. Too put politly.
This brings me onto the beer. as this is a Bathams pub obviously the best selling beer is the Bitter and the Mild. now having drank bathams for years and years in every bathams pub. i can say that the lamp has by far the most inconsistent beer. from one pint to the next the beer can change dramatically . from some of the best bitter, to the worst in an instant.
with a very poor choice of other beverages. being mainly Largers and ciders . there is honeatly not much chance of finding something you like. the stella , Becks and carlsberg all taste terrible. whether its the fact they are not sold as often or not much care and attention are being paid to them. it takes nothing away from the fact they leave a revolting chemically ashy taste on the pallet.
the bottled beers and ciders are frankly overpriced for what they are.
the Food. Not even worth mentioning. โ ๏ธโ ๏ธ
as for atmosphere , the Gaffers are very unwelcoming , rude and Obtuse.
In my opinion Bathams really need to pay more attention to one of the greatest pubs in its fleet.
Get someone in who is passionate about Bathams and The job.
and who is cleaner. not nice standing next to smelly people....

When he took it back to the bar, they said it had gone off. The staff behind the bar were gonna charge him for a replacement drink before he reminded them that they had literally just served an out of date drink. The room we used for the gig was extremely cramped and not big enough for an event. We had a max capacity of 60 and only 30 showed up and it was still too busy and impossible to get to the mixing desk...
