Twice The Spice — Restaurant in Dudley

I only live a couple of minutes from this place yet only been in twice, the first time being around 10 years ago. From the outside it doesn't look very promising, typically very dark with no one in it. However this is because it is only open to dine in on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday, otherwise it's only open for takeaways. I only recently found this out from my daughter, who in turn from her father in law. Both have their takeaways from here and both are very fussy. Given this we thought we would give it a try despite some less than informative reviews. To be honest the restaurant dining area does need a bit of TLC but that's the only downside, and conversely the gents toilet is immaculate. We enjoyed the poppadoms and dips but didn't have starters and went straight to mains. I had a very flavoursome Desi Chicken tikka and the wife a chicken balti, we both thought they were excellent, definitely as good as anywhere and better than most. Just as my daughter had promised and to be honest I was surprised. I am not a fan of technicolour pilau rice and the naan bread is a grilled rather than from the tandoor but both tasted just fine. OMG sensational food and atmosphere at Twice the spice, High St Dudley.

The staff were exceptional 10/10.

The poppadoms were fresh, crispy and irresistible 9/10.

The starters: the chicken tikka was tender and juicy and a generous portion 7/10

The sheesh kebabs were decent - both served in a bed of onions on a sizzler 7/10.

The mains: chicken tikka karahi was next level. the spices and chillies were just perfect, proper authentic and a generous portion 9/10.

The chicken jalfrezi was equally as good. mouthwatering and authentic. the spices were just sublime. 9/10

The tandoori rotis were absolutely gigantic and baked to perfection 10/10 - perfect with those delicious curries

Fries were crispy and fresh 7/10

This is no reflection on the restaurant, more of a warning! Be VERY careful when searching for the website! I didn't actually get to try the food - I ordered online and got scammed by a fake firm called DINEORDER. COM. DO NOT click this link - I didn't even realise that I wasn't on the real website. Money was debited from my card and no order placed. I had to freeze my account and cancel my card to prevent them withdrawing from my account. I had a call at 11.25pm from someone with the thickest Asian accent ever claiming to be from the restaurant offering a refund, but it turned out to be part 2 of the scam.
