I ordered spaghetti mare. It did not taste fresh. The shrimp was overcooked and chewy. I should have sent the dish back but we were a large party and no one was happy with their order so a) I didn’t want to make a scene and b) based on the fact that no one at the table was happy with their food, I didn’t think they could remedy the situation anyway. Other members of our party posted reviews about their food as well and instead of receiving an apology they were called “nasty.” That’s quite something considering that one member of our party was vomiting all night from the bad food. Having worked in hospitality business for many years, I cannot believe management argues with the guests online instead of trying to focus on improving their guest experience. If it wasn’t for the rude comment from management to other members of our party, I would have let it go, but now I feel obligated to warn others about the management’s unprofessional behavior. The only reason I gave 2 starts for service was because of the two very nice and polite servers who attended to our table. Management should take lessons on customer service from their staff — and their time would be better spent improving the food rather than arguing with...

It is very easy to be biased when a restaurant is only ten minutes walk from your home, however, there must be 20+ that would fall into this category, so why is Carlucci's special. Let's start with the service! We are regular visitors but we observe the same consistent and friendly service being received by everyone so there are no "favourites" they are genuinely pleased to see everyone! If you have the pleasure of meeting "Carla" you are in for a treat. The food, this is simple, honest and flavourful, with a great choice of food for everyone (a separate vegetarian and vegan menu is available as well as catering for other dietary requirements). Atmosphere: there is always a buzz in Carlucci's, even if you are the last table in, the staff and background ambience keep the place alive. The toilets are accessible and well maintained (a big deal for me) and the restaurant is always clean and tidy. Did I mention it is only ten minutes walk? If you are in Dunfermline this is a relatively inexpensive meal of excellent quality. My only critique is a fairly restricted wine menu, this is based on consumer demand, I'd like something more...

What's up with people's reviews? Are they eating at the same place?

Second time at the restaurant today so I'll review that.

Nice modern decor, looks clean, staff are well presentable, great selection of wine on display.

Starter: bruschetta - I got toast on garlic butter with a tin of chopped tomatoes. Bland taste, more herbs than a David Cameron joint (which where hardly on the plate, soggy wet bread. Pish.

Main: penne arrabiata (chilli / tomato) extra hot. - came out cold, had spicier custard. Sent back (they refunded my coke...) Seriously could have went home and put on pasta with a jar of Lloyd grossman chilli and tomato and did a better job.

Dessert: profiteroles - presentation was great, hats off. Cream was sweet and heavy, profiteroles where really nice actually. Overall nice, sweet dish. Made up for the additional star in the review.

Overall, terrible starter and main. Seriously, it seemed very amateur. Why not add a little mozzarella, or Parma to abruschetta? Pasta, think they seriously forgot to put in a chilli. That's cool if they did, was wondering if I had lost...

First visit to Carlucci’s in Dunfermline and it was delicious. The aroma of fresh garlic as you enter the restaurant set the tone, and from then just knew it would be a great meal. We received complimentary breadsticks whilst awaiting for our food. To start; the bruschetta was so flavoursome and fresh! Could not fault. Followed by mains - I had the Spaghetti Amatriciana, tomato based sauce with red wine, red onion and bacon with a hint of chilli. 🍝 We also ordered the Cannelloni Ripieni. Carlucci’s don’t scrimp on the portion sizes however there was the option to order a smaller portion. We finished with a chocolate cake which was yummy also. Very tasty meal, will definitely come again. The waiting staff were also great and made us feel very welcome and helped make recommendations on the back of my indecisiveness!

Went here for dinner last night. Above all else what will bring us back is the top quality service. We were served by a young romanian girl whose name I didn't get but she spoke to us like she knew us, so friendly, bubbly and accomodating, but all of the staff are lovely. You get complimentary breadsticks and a small chocolate at the end, which is so thoughtful. I wanted to try some pasta aswell as my pizza so they did a half portion of Bucatini Amatriciana recommended by the server and it was so good. The pizzas are also good, they come round with a big pepper grinder and parmesan to sprinkle on everything if you like. We also had a honeycomb cheesecake and ice cream sundae for dessert and man the cheesecake was so good... We will definitely come back here again. Huge thumbs up for the girl that served us👍👍

We had our lunch at Carlucci during a day trip to Dunfermline. A Pre-theatre menu was available and it only costed £25 for 3 courses. The starters and mains we had were surprisingly good. Loved both the starters - the mussels in a tasty white wine sauce were fresh and juicy, while the fried calamari got crispy batter and the squid rings were still tender in texture. And we ordered pasta for both the mains. The spaghetti carbonara was done well, the sauce was silky and creamy enough while the spaghetti was firm and slightly chewy. And the lasagna was really cheesy and flavourful with the tomato sauce. The tiramisu were less impressive though, it was decent but we had tried better ones around Scotland. Good wine and the waitresses were super friendly.
