I wouldn't recommend it and will definitely not be going again. First of all, the room was filled with a cloud of burned oil fumes. It was like being in a chip shop. The food was average at most. I have ordered The Infamous Urban Wagyu Burger, without onion, as I don't like onion, and it was completely dry and portion was small. It was supposed to have some wasabi mayo but couldn't tell if there was any in there. No salad or anything green in it, basically just meat in a roll with some parmesan on it and some large portion of chips on the side to compensate for the tiny burger. For £20 I would expect at least plenty of sauce and some salad inside or on the side. I know it should have onion and maybe it wouldn'tbe so dry but the meat was really dry. Honestly, review how you prepare food as this is not acceptable. Little bit of salad and tomato goes a long way and it costs pennies. My partner had Blackened Market Fish and it was bit tasteless. Not seasoned enough, not salty at all, just plain fried fish on some almost cold rice with some salad. Can't remember what her mum had, but she got a chicken breast in a bowl of salad for £20, shocking. To summarise it all, the food is average, the food presentation was average, it was hot and smelled of burned oil in there, not very pleasant experience at all. And the prices don't reflect the food quality/portion sizes. I'm in disbelief of how this place has such high reviews. I have eaten in restaurants with much lower reviews and was much much more satisfied. I also wanted to add, and it might be just my own ignorance, but I had no idea what 90% of the names of the foods on the menu are. It lacked proper description as I didn't know what the food is and had trouble deciding what to order, hence why I ended up ordering a burger in the end which was, as we all know,a...

We were there after a 6+ hour hike from Cambridge to Ely on a slightly chilly day in May. Just wanted to find somewhere warm for some nice food and regain the energy.

We ordered one pint, a coke, prawn linguine and burger. The linguine was like from kids' menu, cooked by a Thai chef who forgot to put sauce and ran out of pasta - you can imagine what it looked like. The burger was okay, but what can really go wrong with a burger anyways. For the above, we paid nearly £50!

In addition, the table had some glasses from previous customers, the waiter only tidied it up when asked, after we made the order. And she told us "you only have one hour as it is reserved from 4.30pm". Wouldn't it be nice they just put a 'reserved' note so we find somewhere else, or said it kindly with a 'sorry' or 'please'?!

In comparison, we recently had a meal at the Browns - Food full of flavour, nice portion, great service, with only a little extra to pay but it was a nice evening with friends.

To the manager/owner, if you think small businesses deserve some attention and support, please act like one who cares about the customers more than the money.

From our experience, there was no quality, no quantity, no service (and I paid 10% tips as I feel bad if not to...), only mark atmosphere as 2 because it had a view from the window. With this, our conclusion is...

I really wanted to like Urban Fresh but unfortunately for me, it just didn't hit the mark. The menu is interesting and different to the usual places in Ely and I can see why it may appeal to some people. However, I did struggle to choose both a starter and main because a lot have chili in and no mention of how spicy the dishes are. I ordered the bread board to start which was actually good thanks to a little pot of garlicy heaven they give you on the side. This was over £10 though.... Mains for me was the steak La Plancha Ardiente which was steak on a skillet with a couple of slices of pepper, much more onion and 3 small tacos. The steak was a bit chewy and the 3 tacos were no where near enough for what was on the skillet. For £26 I expected more and was left hungry. Service was slow but the staff were all nice and friendly to be fair to them. Overall I just felt disappointed. As much as I would like to return to try something else, the small portions and high cost don't really make...

Instagramable food which doesn't taste as good as it looks. I've been looking forward to arepas, but what arrived was super dry (or refried). My friend and I were very disappointed. Great garnish, but not good as a Dish. Second plate was the tacos with verduras asadas. It was very onion heavy, zero taste of chimmichuri, and it had very dry and rubbery paneer cheese. Perhaps again refried. The guacamole was good and Pico de gallo. It just lacked punch and seasoning. The tacos didn't seem to be made from masa harina tampoco :'(. Maybe they should use a 3 red chilli sauce option or a salsa del bomba de Barcelona to spice it up. I asked for a cortado and they made one off menu. It was a nice touch. Service is very fast and attentive. I was not rushed as my friend was running late. I know they were trying to go with paneer as a substitute for queso Latino, but it doesn't hit the mark. Overall, it's s nice menu, but need to tighten up the fried and very dry food.

The restaurant has a nice location right on the water. There was only one waitress who had her hands full waiting tables inside and out and giving the orders to the delivery guys. She did a good job though not surprisingly I did have to wait at least ten minutes before I could get the bill. I had the Moqueca Brazilian vegetable stew [£17] which comes with rice. It was tasty, chock full of vegetables and the bowl was huge. One nutritional negative however is that there was no protein in the meal. I would have liked to have had some beans of some kind in it so that with the rice it would have made a complete protein source (that or quinoa instead of rice). For a drink I had "The 'That's Not Right' one" cocktail [£12]. I can't recommend it. Most of the glass was filled with ice and the flavor was solely lime.

We had such a lovely meal at Urban Fresh Ely with family and friends — honestly, the whole experience was fantastic! Alfie’s service really stood out. He went above and beyond and made the evening feel extra special. The food was top-notch too — I had the sirloin (medium rare) and tried a few of their signature dishes, and every single one was incredible. If I’m being honest, I probably wouldn’t go for the bread & butter or chorizo & squid next time, but everything else more than made up for it. The mocktails were another highlight — The Movie Star was easily my favourite. We sat outside by the river, and the atmosphere was just perfect — such a lovely way to wrap up a day in the charming little town of Ely. Can’t wait to visit again soon!
