Very disappointed. As a local resident we’d never eaten here before so thought we’d take some visitors over the Christmas period. The food took ages despite it being empty, the chips were so hard they were inedible (I think they’d been refried a number of times), all of the burgers were over cooked and some burnt, and the onion rings were cold and pretty unappetising in appearance. The staff were ok and refunded the onion rings but we got nothing offered in return for such terrible meals, except offering to replace the chips, by which time we’d waited so long for our food we declined as we had to leave. The kids didn’t have time for their desserts and didn’t eat their starters since the pub had run out of garlic bread (the main kids starter). To top it all off, some of the adults felt a bit poorly that evening. Real shame as it would be great to have a decent local pub to eat at with the family (I think the Feathers is adult only?) and somewhere to take visitors but we won’t...
Read moreWe rang ahead and were told there was no need to book so we turned up to a half empty pub with at least six empty tables and no one at the bar. We were met by a vacant barmaid who just stood and stared at us when we asked if we could order and said she needed to get a manager! Manager comes over (it was him we’d spoken to ten minutes earlier) and gets out a diary and starts flicking pages! We told him we’d just spoken to him and he’d said to come down and he said I’ll have to check with the chef! It was 1:15pm and the place was half empty. The barmaid continued to just stare at us, didn’t offer to take a drinks order and the manager returns and says I’m sorry guys the chef says no! We said to him next time don’t say it’s okay to just turn up if it’s not and we left. It was an absolute shambles and the worst customer service. We will not...
Read moreWe had lunch at this truly fabulous pub.The waitress who took our order was absolutely marvellous so kind and friendly. The food was delicious and the place we sat was amazing. What we love about pubs in Devon is the fact that they allow dogs in it's brilliant. We were the only ones without a dog and our lovely waitress Hazel brought Bonios to all the dogs around us.It was a joy to see so many breeds tucking in to their treats.Hazel deserves a special mention as she really does make everyone feel so welcome and is a joy to talk to as well as a brilliant waitress. All in all this was one of our most memorable visits to a Devon pub for lunch. Thanks Hazel and all the lovely staff u made a real...
