Would give zero stars if possible. Lazy staff (of which there was only one) who couldnāt be bothered to lift her head. Took absolutely ages with the people in front of us who started laughing at what a joke it was. We were next and just stood there while she prepped the other peoples food. I appreciate staff and venue gets busy but when youāve walked there to give them business and they canāt even be bothered to lift their heads and say āhang on pleaseā itās a joke.
Anyway, we waited and gave her the benefit of the doubt keen to sample the crab sandwiches which are advertised literally everywhereā¦.. was then told they had no crab!
Decided anything else after that (like a Can of coke) would just be too difficult so we left. Iāve owned restaurants and if my staff managed or behaved like this Iād have sacked them.
As I walked away saw too locals clearly eating crab!!! Probably donāt need to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreChaotic and disorganised. We waited a whole hour between ordering and our food arriving. We wouldn't have minded so much (Budleigh beach at sunset is a lovely place to wait) but for the complete lack of any apology from the owner for the delay.
The food, when it finally arrived, was mediocre. The pint of prawns had clearly been defrosted in the microwave, as the shells were soft and the meat chewy. The tapas menu was mainly deep-fried, and not particularly Spanish, including for example arancini (Italian), salt-and-pepper squid (Chinese) and whitebait (British).
I don't often post restaurant reviews, but the owner's attitude toward his customers irritated me so much that I felt I had to comment. If he wants to avoid one-star reviews, then he needs to treat his customers better and start apologizing when...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame here a few times over a week as we were staying in a nearby house on holiday. The service tended to be pretty slow just for coffees and pasties. However to be fair, I think this was due to a staff member being unavailable. However, the coffee is good and well made, and the pastys are tasty.
One night we came for dinner. We thought we were coming for the seafood banquet, however the staff seemed a bit young and clueless about what this actually involved, and so we had the tapas instead. I can't say I was impressed. A lot of it seemed shop bought and prepared by teenagers, and about three of the items were unavailable.
However, it's right on the beachfront so the scenery is beautiful, and perfect for a sunny summer day. Just stick to the coffees,...
