Cloisters Continental Cafe — Restaurant in East Hampshire

Really poor service. Arrived at 11:55 on Saturday, was advised they weren’t taking food orders till 12:10 we said no problem will order some drinks until then, Ordered a couple of coffee. 2 further staff asked between 11:55 and 12 if we wanted to place an order to which we replied we have already done a drinks order, waited for over 15mins never arrived I had to chase them up and order again at 12:15. Asked if we could also place the food order which we did, Chased up our food order as we noticed loads of tables that went and sat down after us were getting their food but not us, just kept being told 5mins, chased three times in the end we said we would go, and then finally got our food at 1:30pm. It wasn’t just us, it’s was happening all over and none of the staff seemed to know what to do. In the time we waited we had to listen to the chef telling the staff saying no more food orders and also shouting about a takeaway delivery driver as he clearly couldn’t find the an address, the tables place wasn’t even full and I couldn’t understand how they were claiming to be so busy - it was embarrassing. I have had tea/coffe and cake here a few times and all good. However today I thought I would treat myself to lunch. A goats cheese and beetroot panini. I waited for at least twenty minutes and when it finally arrived it was a toasted sandwich and not a panini. I pointed this out to the very nice waitress and as I was in a bit of a rush, decided to shut up and eat it. I couldn’t believe it…when I took a bite it was just beetroot and no cheese. I was told that he was talking a lot and forgot to put the cheese in. Anyway, it was sent back and, well I thought I’d be given a fresh one preferably the panini that I ordered in the first place but no, the same sandwich with a bite taken out of it but with bit of melted cheese inside it was brought back…no apology that was it. Is it me or what! To be fair they did knock a couple of quid off the bill but I won’t be spending precious money in there anymore unless all of these establishments realise this. We had a lovely lunch here when we were not planning on having lunch out at all, as a result I was unprepared with food for the baby. They were incredibly accommodating, made my little girl some cucumber sticks and bread and butter as she's only 7months. I hadn't clocked that there were high chairs and the staff brought one over.

Now for the food, both us grown ups had the burger and it was truly smashing! Juicy patty, soft bun, nice fresh side salad, crispy fries and beautifully presented.

Staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. Having warned us the burger takes a little longer they then appologised for the wait. To be honest it came out bare minutes after the sarnies of the couple who had ordered just after us.

Importantly the tea pots are not dribbly and the place is immaculate. I'd love to go back and sit outside when the...
