Place is ok. The food was not great. but for the price I guess not a major issue. The steak frits steak is incredibly tough. Almost like a piece of rubber.
But the biggest let down of entire experience was that when it came to paying the bill we get Informed that they don't accept cash. I'm sorry but they are not based In A central London tech hub, they are based in a village and maybe they should make it much clearer from the beginning about not accepting cash. Ruined the entire experience. Customer service was ok until it came to payment and then it became bad with staff not being empathetic to our surprise at not being able to pay in cash and the staff proceeded to play the victim in the situation when it was actually us the willing paying customers who had been confronted with this drama at the end of the meal through no fault of our own.
But it seemed the staff were more annoyed than us considering we had our entire meal ruined. In the end someone paid by card for us and we gave the cash. Just a terrible experience at the End of an ok meal. We had kids with us as well and could do without this added drama.. by rights we should have refused to pay for the meal after the service was ruined yet here we were willing and wanting to pay including service charge and we got attitude and drama.
It's one thing refusing cash but to then annoy customers who very well intentioned simply offered to pay in cash is ridiculous. Especially we are from France and in other countries not accepting cash is virtually unheard of, so this came as a huge surprise. Please make it clear right from the beginning and make staff tell customers before ordering. We were told it says it on the menu but I'm sorry with 2 kids just trying to order food is hard enough without looking through all the wording to see where it says no cash. This is discrimination also to people who can't read and given that we are french it was normal we couldn't read this part. So this is also discrimination by cote. In facT I can't see where on menu it says it's doesn't accept cash. Not clear in site either. Please tell your staff to make clear before customer order meal. Read moreAte here recently and was very disappointed with how much it had gone downhill. The experience was not pleasant. Came along as part of a group of friends. I was pleased to see that food allergies and intolerances were taken seriously but then left to navigate my way around the menu with no alternatives or substitutes offered for my intolerance. It was basically ‘that’s what you get, get on with it.’ The portions were smaller than usual and the flavour just wasn’t there. The service was intense as waiting staff appeared and disappearing half way through orders. I was left with a menu and an allergens list for 25 minuses to decide which dessert I wanted. The waiter didn’t return so I had to go and find someone to place my order with. I found our waiter at the bar laughing with his colleagues, the restaurant was empty apart from our table and one other. Read moreThey managed to find a table for us but said we had to be out by 7pm. Thought this would be plenty of time having arrived at 5.40pm. They were prompt at taking our order but it stopped there. Our starter, which we were sharing, came out at 6.25pm. They didn’t notice until about 6.15pm that we were still waiting as it was difficult to get someone’s attention. The manager did apologise and took it off the final bill. The mains arrived and while the duck dish I had was good it was cold at the ends and the potato was luke warm - clearly they had cooked the main before our starter and had left it on the serving area while we ate our missing starter. The minute steak was cooked ok but not the best quality of meat. The dessert of tarte un pomme was disappointing as the pasty was far from flaky and a bit on the stodgy side.
