The Dog’s Head — Restaurant in East Hertfordshire

We love the outside! But that’s where the positive stops. We had an absolutely awful experience starting from the fact that nobody greeted as we came through the door and, in fact it was hard to find anyone for a few. They were then just blasé and had poor attitudes. When I tried to order a mock tail at the bar, the bartender refused to make it the way I wanted it, so when it came to the table it was a glass of ice, leaves and fruit! Not at all as described and no liquid to be had! It was disgusting! The staff didn’t care. They didn’t come to the table nor upsell anything! There were no suggestions of food made. We were basically just left. When we did go up to the bar to order again the attitude was poor; there were no suggestions or upselling. We will not return, as it continued like this through our dinner. No desserts were offered. No coffee. Nothing in the way of what I expected. We came here for a quick lemonade the first wekend they were open to see what the place was like. Being very familiar with Baroosh, the previous incarnation of this establishment, I could see the similarities and the changes. Similarities The bar is roughly the same. The prices are similar. High end for Stortford. The fancy chandelier is still over near thr toilets. Differences Completely redecorated in a retro pub style. Lots of dog themes and photo's. More orientated towards seating/gastro pub. Top bar has many TV's sports bar style. Football and cricket showing. As it was pleasant and comfortable we stayed for lunch. Food is mostly burgers and Hot dogs all soinded nice with vege alternatives. As we were hungry we both had the stack burger and can highly recommend it. The food prices are similar to other gastro pubs around Stortford. They now have a shuffleboard tabke under the chandelier but I'll investigate this...

I booked a table of 8 for my birthday and to watch the football. Arrived yesterday and was given three stalls when we had a party of 8 so most of us had to stand which was quite annoying. It would of been great if someone on the team contact us confirming our booking prior to arrival.

However, although it was very busy there last night I ordered via the app and it was very quick service. We had only one issue where we had to wait 20-30 min for drinks ordered via app. We spoke to the manager and she was very apologetic and compensated the delay with a drink on the house.
