Lovely food but let down by very poor service and a awful restaurant setup that just doesn't seem to have been thought through. The staf didn't seem to be well organised or care much for customers comfort which was disappointing to see.
As a top - Make sure you are seated upstairs as it can affect your night if you are stuck in the basement as we sady were. Staff didn't seem adequately trained in how to use heating or cared to make sure their guests are comfortable.
Initially we were seated in the " cold dark basement seating are " which was an abhorrent experience. It was freezing and dark with little atmosphere in contrast to the warm cosy upstairs. Surprisingly we had to ask the staff multiple times to turn on the heating. They turned on the air con fan instead which made it even colder. After speaking to two separate members of staff about it - they finally fixed it but it still didn't get much warmer.
We had been planning to get loads of drinks but because it was so cold - I asked for a coffee which they didn't serve.
We asked to move again upstairs which the staff finally relented and we were able to finally have a decent meal. Food was ok-ish but the rest of the meal had been ruined by the bad table and poor service. As a bonus they also didn't have the sides we wanted.
I don't think the staff realised how bad the experience is as they even asked at the end why we hadnt ordered more drinks.
Hopefully what we experienced was just a blip. This place could be really great if they can work on their service and ideally making sure customers are warm and comfortable as a starting point.
If you do come along - the tacos are definitely the better choice over the burritos and the quesadillas are a definite good...
Read moreAfter hearing some very good reviews about Dirties from friends and family recently, me, my partner and our friends decided to book a table. We were given a time slot, and during the week I was texted twice and called to ensure I still wanted the table â I thought this a little much but perhaps tables were in demand. Saturday night came and we turned up exactly on time for our table. We were told that it wasnât yet ready, and that the waitress needed to âget rid of themâ still. We were asked to get a drink downstairs and wait. 15 minutes passed, and we had not heard anything, still the table was not ready. After half an hour, now 9pm, our table was ready. My friend asked the waitress if perhaps our round of drinks could be on the house considering the long wait. She was met with a disinterested look and no apology, told âWe try our best, so I can ask for youâ. We ordered and then waited for another half an hour, being asked continuously if we needed more drinks. Finally, an hour after our table was booked the food arrived. My partnerâs choice of meal was not available as they had run out of sweet potato, so instead he chose the Picked Cactus Tostadas, which he described as 3 Pringles with green beans and mayonnaise. We also ordered a ÂŁ7.50 nachos sharing plate, which was a small hand full of crisps with enormous dollops of sauces smothering them. Overall, poor attitude from staff, long waits for overpriced and unexciting food. Sadly, we wonât...
Read moreDaylight robbery. Absolutely disgusting service. Uses the pretense of being a Tapas restaurant to rip off customers. Advertises itself as a Mexican restaurant, even though Tapas is SPANISH! Fortunately the general population of Hertford (mostly uneducated but wealthy builders and 'Barrow-boys-Done-Good') are too stupid and uncultured to notice the difference. One staff member was very friendly and bubbly but did not settle us in or explain the menu properly, the other one was not only incompetent, but horribly unfriendly and stuck up; she refused to engage me in polite relevant conversation and spoke to us with utter contempt. Front of house staff not asking what cuisson I wanted the steak, and brought me a very cheap cut of disgustingly under cooked beef in a micro portion, accompanied by a few Asda Smart Price tortilla chips. Unhygienic practices; staff walking in and out of kitchen without washing hands or wearing whites. Starter was equally repulsive, cheap tortilla chips floating in some kind of disgusting watery cheddar sauce. Bill came to just under £24 for ONE PERSON. AVOID. Charged nearly £4 for a tiny 150ml can of diet...
