South Street Pantry — Restaurant in East Hertfordshire

20/06 - The atmosphere of this establishment is lovely and everyone is friendly. Unfortunately after informing the waiter of my dairy allergy I recieved my order with the food containing dairy. I am anaphylaxis and carry epi pens with me. The waiter apologised and took accountability.. And they did not charge me for my meal however that does not take away from the seriousness of the situation I was fortunate to have detected the dairy in my food.. It could have been a very different situation. I had eaten some of the food so had a very unpleasant evening. Allergies can be life threatening and should be on the top of a food establishments agenda when it comes to catering. 'Forgetting to write it down and pass it on ' is not good enough! I would recommend the restaurant but I hope they take more care in the future when it comes to dealing with allergies.

22/06 - after speaking to Ella on the phone about the situation. management have been in contact to apologise and told me the measures they have put in place so that something like this doesn't happen again I feel more confident that they have taken this situation seriously and they will be more careful in the future. Came in for some tea and lunch, planned to sit and do some work after my friend had checked with staff that it was okay for us to work for a bit and was told yes so long as it was less than 1.5 hours, which we obviously understood as they need to have tables for new customers. On arrival my friend told me the woman serving her was glaring at her and making it clear she didn't want her there working. We had planned on having some lunch and a couple of drinks and just doing some note taking for an hour, but we both felt very uncomfortable due to the looks we were getting and think we also heard her talking about my friend only having a tea. Had she been more professional we would have had lunch and drinks, all within the hour and a half we were allowed. This poor service was surprising as the service is usually excellent! Not good experience at South Street pantry today, as it was my daughters birthday today I met up with few friends for brunch, what experience that was, we ordered all the food there was 5 of us altogether but most of us had the same food, our food came I ordered poached eggs on toast , firstly there was really long hair sitting in my egg, then i said no butter on toast & there was loads of butter on it, so it all went back, my daughter had hair in her toast as well, clearly no one is wearing hair net, it just puts you right of the food when there is hair on your food, she bought out fresh poached eggs but yet again had to go back as she put butter on my toast again, then we ordered more coffee's had to wait another extra 10mins for mine as I saw her give it to someone else, I think its over priced for what you get the service is not good so won't be going back, we will go elese...
