The Rivermill — Restaurant in East Hertfordshire

I haven't ordered from The Rivermill in a long time, so when my family were over a couple of Saturdays ago, we looked at review scores, and they had 4.3, so we went with it. We ordered roughly £60 worth. Every takeaway I've ever had the tin or plastic cartons is full to the top. Most if not all containers were a 3rd full. We all lined up for the microwave as the food was warm at best. I remember when you ordered ribs, you'd get quite a few. We got 4. For £7.20 I think that's stingy as they weren't even all long nor thick. Last night, I ordered from them again just for myself. I thought they couldn't have gotten the score of 4.3 on reviews from nowhere, and it was a sat night, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Big mistake.... I ordered my food at mins past 5 on a Mon when I wouldn't have thought they'd be that busy. I was told 40 mins - an hour, no issues. Within 20 - 30 mins max, a man was pulling up outside my house. I thought that can't be mine already. That's way too quick. Yep, it was mine Again, the cartons weren't full. The ribs sauce had dripped into the carrier bag, so much so that I took the cartons out over the sink. Now, clearly they wasn't busy why my food arrived so quickly, but I'm at a loss as to why I had to yet again microwave my food, and yet again there were 4 smallish ribs for £7.20. Personally, I think that's taking the mic save to say it wasn't a Saturday night blip, and again, how did they get there rating. Maybe they aren't real ! I won't be ordering from them ever again. Oh, also, the lady on the phone mentioned at least 3 times if I could pay cash on delivery, and when I said who has actual cash these days She said, "That's what the restaurant likes, but I'll accept a card this time. Hmmm, I wonder why they just want cash ! If you want to waste your hard earned money, give them a try, but I'm sure you'll regret...

After our favourite Chinese has closed we have been doing the rounds trying to find a decent takeaway. We read the reviews for the river mill and we felt it worth a try so ordered a takeaway for delivery. The food was hot and delivered in a reasonable time, but that was sadly the only good part of the order. We had ordered a large container of egg fried rice and we received a small container of rice. We also ordered a chicken and mushroom soup but received chicken and sweetcorn soup (I can’t stand sweetcorn).The rest of the food was ok but nothing special. I found that the reviews I had been reading not being very accurate so I’m only giving 3 ⭐️ due to the fact I would like what I ordered not what they feel like sending. So our search continues for a decent Chinese restaurant...

Went during the week to experience the Chinese food in Bishop's Stortford as we usually visit Peking Palace in Sawbridgworh. On arrival we stepped out of the Taxi to see a white male kitchen chef/helper smoking directly outside the restaurant sitting on a bench. At this point I wished we should've just walked away! Walking upstairs to the restaurant it quickly came apparent I made a mistake in my booking. The caperts were filthy, windows dirty and tables were old and sticky.
