Family of four.
Upon entry before being served, if you require fish, you need to order it before getting to the till. Good idea, less waiting time.
I asked for 3 cod, with no skin.
Two staff looked at me as if I was the antichrist.
We ordered 3 fish, two chips, two peas and two curry to take out.
The lady serving asked if we'd like salt and vinegar, I replied yes please, but she would have to put it on. I said, could you give me the salt and vinegar please, as we'd all like to put our own on?
This wasn't allowed.
However, we could buy a bottle of vinegar and salt from behind the counter.
The first chippy that i've ever known that hides the condiments under the counter.
Ok, the food.
Fish and chips straight out of the frier, great.
Fish and chips ok, certainly not the best we've ever had. Curry sauce average, mushy peas was below average.
£38.50
Out of 10, 5.5 at the very best.
Whilst we were outside eating, I saw three customers leaving with shop bought salt and vinegar, thats an extra 4 quid.

Read moreI read some of the comments on here and am quite suprised to the point I think some of them are from competing establisments trying to put people off. I have lived here for many years and found Salts to be one of the best chip shops in the entire area. The price is no dearer than anywhere else and the chips are far superior to many chippies in the area and certainly not greasy. You always get a good amount of them and I have never had a bad portion. The fish is lovely and I have Never found any bones in it. The only way it could be better would be for the skin to be removed but after saying that a lot of people prefer the skin to be on. The batter is crisp and tasty and the battered sausages are gorgeous. I don't think they do home deliveries which is the ONLY reason I might have given 4 stars and not 5 but it was won back by excellent parking via their own car park at the side. Give it a try and see for yourself.. an...
Read moreIf you want the best ever fish and chips then if your in the area this is the place. The haddock was sizeable and a generous portion of chips the same with my husbands fishcake ,chips and mushy peas. Everything was still red hot after our drive to the front. I cant believe how cheap this meal was as I would of paid at least another £7 at my local (which I have stopped visiting as food not great). Went on Sunday evening and restaurant part closed but that didnt matter. We were greeted by Frank the fryer who was so nice, sense of humour and without asking drew us a map to drive to the seafront. McCauley then took and made our order up and was one of the most pleasant teenagers I had come across his mother should be very proud. Ann in the background not been distracted from the excellent cleaning as the place was spotless. I recommend this place to anyone who likes excellent fish and chips at a very...
