Disappointing. Our Sunday lunchtime visit started off well, with the gentleman who served us moving chairs from our reserved table for two in the dining room to a table we preferred near the bar in the main part of the pub. We asked what ciders were on tap and he only told us about one of them; we ordered two halves but as I didn't like it my husband went to the bar and got me a bottle of Bulmers, when he discovered there was another cider on tap which he would have preferred. Our server only gave us the Specials boards so we didn't know about any of the dishes on the main menu. The vegetarian/vegan specials had no descriptions, I asked the server what they consisted of and he had to go to the kitchen to find out. Panko vegetables - never found out what that was. Vegetarian burger was declared to be Quorn. Vegetarian pie, and vegetable parcels were both apparently made from the same vegetables, on asking what they were he said 'well, vegetables, like carrot and broccoli', which sounded rather un-appetising (perhaps they were better than he made them sound?). I asked about the halloumi burger and he said it was made of halloumi, on further questioning he said there were grilled vegetables in the bun with it. So I ordered the halloumi burger and my husband ordered fishcakes with jacket potato, which was said to come with vegetables. He enjoyed the fishcakes, they may have been home made although we had not been told this, and the vegetables with it were a pile of peas at one end of the plate salad at the other. The halloumi burger was a bun with pieces of slightly cooked grilled green pepper, grilled halloumi slices, a handful of very cold lettuce, the bun top, and two cold onion rings - no mayonnaise, relish or chutney of any kind, no red pepper or any other Mediterranean veg. We only had salt and pepper on our table so I had to ask a passing server for vinegar for my chips, but we were not brought the bowl of sauces etc we saw going to other tables. My halloumi burger came with some nice freshly cooked chunky chips in a bucket, a tiny salad, and a tiny portion of coleslaw (the same size as the horseradish sauce on my husbands' plate). We have eaten here on two previous occasions, when we had excellent fish and chips and home-made bean burgers so perhaps Sunday is a bad time to come if you are not a meat eater. Just to add - after all the bother trying to find out what the food was before ordering it, I couldn't be bothered complaining about a couple of cold onion rings when the lady who brought the vinegar asked if everything was ok. I didn't know that the halloumi burger was lacking some of the things mentioned on the main menu or I would...

My family and I prebooked for a table of 8 on a Sunday afternoon. When we arrived we had a 10 minute wait which we were fine about whilst we waited for the table to be prepared. We sat down and placed our orders, just main courses and had a 1 year old, 3 year old and 6 year old with us so hoped it'd be a relatively quick service as there were was only 1 other table in. We waited for 2 hours before our food came to us, it was cold and the adult portions were the same as the childs portions. It was missing Yorkshire puddings and we only had 1 roast potato each. The restaurant offered to reduce the price down to child portions which we weren't happy with, staff then came out and said there were no Yorkshires left and we could have a complimentary drink each. Then when the manager came over we showed how cold and unappetising the food was and complained about the poor standard of care towards our table he agreed our meal would be free and were told we could have desserts on the house too. Half an hour later and we had noone clear our table, no offer of desserts and decided it wasn't worth waiting for.

This establishment was completely unprofessional and had no regard for the customers satisfaction. Once shown what had gone wrong there were excuses and unfulfilled promises. Would NOT reccomend this place for a family to...

Called in on a Monday evening and was warmly welcomed by smart, lovely staff behind the bar. We'd rang ahead to book a table and she seemingly recognised my voice and showed us to our table.

The menu had a nice range to it.

I ordered the battered whitebait and the ribs as a main. My wife had the mousakka and my daughter had the sausages.

I'd never had whitebait before and whilst the flavour is not for me in the future, the portion size was impressive amd definitely suitable for 2 or more to share.

The ribs were really tasty, really meaty and thoroughly enjoyable. My wife loved the mousaka but commented the chips that come with it were probably a little too much for her and would've preferred a salad to accompany it. My daughter loved the sausages and, on trying them myself (Dad's got to check for poison right?) had to agree. These were proper sausages not some cheap naff that some places fob off on a kids meal.

The staff were super friendly throughout, the ale selection good amd the portion size really impressive. The prices, in today's world were pleasantly surprising when the bill came.

Would...

We stopped in for an early Saturday dinner as the pub we stayed at didn't serve food. Smelt a bit of generic fried chips on arrival.....but it turns out they were very tasty hand cut fried chips!! Everything we ordered was freshly made. Mac n cheese, tasty homemade pizza, fresh side salad (not swimming in dressing), big burgers, huge fish and chips. The food wasn't mind blowing, but homemade made it more special. There were proper highchairs (with a tray)for the little one, friendly staff....and a play area in the garden! Not too expensive for 4 adults and a small child eating and drinking. Only negatives for me is children's menu lacked any real veg or drink selection. And limited alcohol free drinks for the drivers without sugary cokes, but husband seemed to enjoy the ale.

This was our second visit in 3 months - mainly due to the fact that it takes more than an hour to drive there from home. This time, my wife had smoked haddock - a serving so large that she brought a large portion of it home in a box! On the recommendation of the chef from our first visit, I had the chicken fajitas this time. A great recommendation. Once again the pub's policy about sourcing the highest quality ingredients was evident, even down to the wraps - built to hold a goodly serving. A great atmosphere in a comfortable welcoming, and genuinely friendly environment. Delighted to see an area reserved with locals eho may not want to eat in mind. We will be back!

Once again we met up for a midweek lunch in Louth after a stunning autumnal walk through Hubbard's hills. The Woolpack is welcoming and spacious yet cosy too. Today I chose the Grimsby Haddock (gluten free by request). Although the batter looked anaemic it was crispy and light with the plentiful portion of haddock fried to perfection. Homemade chips and tartare sauce give more evidence that pride is earned in the kitchen. Will be back again soon. Another visit post New year, the welcome was as warm as always. I opted for the house special burger and chips (gf) ... Wow, superb! Very generous, uncious and memorable.
