Early booking is recommended for the restaurant area, as it fills up quickly at weekends and also during the holidays. In addition to the restaurant there is a modern public bar area and also a good amount of outdoor seating.
I did notice a bar menu, but didn't have chance to look at it, as we were booked in the restaurant.
For the music lover, there is the occasional live band playing in the bar area.
There is a good sized free car park for customers and limited roadside parking. Across the road there is also a short-stay pay and display car park.
The Jolly Sailors is located right on the cliff at Pakefield with easy access to the beach, to walk off the very generous portions after dining.
The restaurant menu is not extensive, allowing the chefs to produce meals to a high standard and presented in a way that invites. Daily specials are also available on a page separate to the main menu.
Choosing food for small children from the menu was not easy, but the staff were very accommodating, providing some tasty little dishes extra to the menu.
I rarely give 5 stars to any establishment, but Everyone in my party thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The portions were very generous and every element across all the dishes chosen were cooked and presented...
Read moreThis is easily, for me, the BEST place to eat in lowestoft. Ok it's not that hard as there are very few options these days but I have never been disappointed when eating at this place. Booking a table in the restaurant is your best option however decent pub grub is available if your unable to book. There are daily specials up on the board which are always worth a punt and the kitchen are flexible, constructing whatever you like ad long as they have the ingredients. The service has always been top notch very polite, accommodating and friendly. The food itself is obviously cooked with care, compassion and love and it shines through starting with the quality of the ingredients, moving into the perfect way ot is cooked and the brilliant flavours it produces when eaten. It is one of the more pricier restaurants in lowestoft but again that's being compared to wetherspoons, spring tide and Hatfield eateries to name a few. I would choose this place to eat over any of those or others I have failed to mention. I enjoyed all the food I have eaten at this place and always left feeling satisfied, pleased and definitely wanting to return. I hope they carry on providing the service and products I have become used to in my short stay so far...
Read moreWhat a wonderful family lunch. Myself, Hubby, nephew, sister-in--law and mother-in- law heather had at the Jolly Sailors on Saturday. Actually myself, Heather and Bev all worked there many moons . The staff were very friendly and helpful 10 out of 10 ladies and gents.. The food was pub grub at it`s very best, three of the party had the scampi and chips, it was presented well, lovely and freshly cooked, and more than ample portions. Mum had Catch Of The Day which was Cod, Hand cut chips and mushy peas.. Again beautifully presented, steaming hot, massive beautifully cooked cod and chips. Then my meal which in my opinion was the dish of the day. Pan Roasted Hake, Aspyall cider braised cabbage and roast new potatoes. The star of the dish was the Hake, it was cooked to perfection, actually the best cooked fish I have had in a long while, and again a huge portion of this beautiful fish. I could not believe that the other three could fit in dessert , but they did !!! Two Eton Mess, one banoffee cheesecake,, toffee sauce and fudge ice cream and a Rocky Road Sundae went down a sweet treat, and were enormous. Thank You Adam and your excellent team for a lunch to remember, we...
