Everything that can go wrong with a restaurant is presented here at Kerala Flavours. From a very highy deceptive menu which boasts of South Indian food but doesn't really serve south Indian cuisine. No dosa, no wada and no south Indian staple.
Next is the rude manager, and other half trained "brother" who has hardly any idea about the menu. Highly understaffed place on a busy night where we had to wait 15-20 minutes for "freshly cooked" water.
We waited for 1 hour for our food to be served. And since the frozen paratha was "freshly made", it took time. This the the excuse by n The manager.
The pictures attached don't do enough justice as to how poor the taste and quality was. It is evident from the picture thst the frozen ready made paratha is undercooked and raw from the Centre.
Anyone who is used to eating normal Indian food would know and appreciate the taste. Appratently the routine crowd isn't really aware of the authentic Indian taste and hence the good reviews.
To all the regular people eating here, please read the reviews from fellow Indians and you will know.
The worst part is, we personally felt cheated and faced a hint of racism as we were overlooked and ignored for a major part with barely any customer service and smile.
Also beware, the creepy smile of the "brother" seeing a female customer may make you feel uncomfortable.
What we hated the most is, Bangladeshi people ruining the name of South Indian cuisine by serving probably the worst food we have ever had.
To sum up, Kerala Flavours can be described as a restaurant owned/managed by Bangladeshi people which is understaffed and has extremely poor customer service, serving poor taste Indian food, cheating regular naive customers in name of South Indian Cuisine. And mind you, I haven't even talked about prices and the compulsory papadom condiments.
As an Asian, be prepared to be fooled and get a shock of your life in name Of South Indian Cuisine. And as a Britisher, this is no where near to South Indian Cuisine.
Cheers and thanks for...
Read moreI had an unforgettable dining experience at Kerala Flavours in Eastbourne, and it’s easily a five-star gem! The restaurant, located at 166 Seaside, exudes a warm and welcoming vibe with its tasteful decor that subtly nods to Kerala’s rich cultural heritage. The staff was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and eager to guide us through their authentic South Indian menu, making us feel right at home.
The food was an absolute revelation. The onion bhajis was perfectly crisp, filled with a flavorful batter and served with vibrant, fresh chutneys that elevated the dish to new heights. The chicken dhanzak, recommended by our server, was a standout—rich, aromatic, and perfectly balanced with fresh whole cassia bark and spices, showcasing the true essence of Kerala’s cuisine. The Lamb bhuna was another highlight, spicy and bursting with bold flavors, paired beautifully with soft, freshly made Kerala paratha. Vegetarian options like the sag aloowere equally impressive, with fresh vegetables in a creamy, spinach-based sauce that was both comforting and complex.
Every dish was prepared with high-quality ingredients and authentic spices, delivering the kind of homemade taste that’s hard to find. The portions were generous, and the option to bring your own drinks added a nice touch of flexibility.
The service was impeccable, with staff going above and beyond. Despite a slightly dated interior, the incredible flavors and warm hospitality more than made up for it. Kerala Flavours truly lives up to its name, offering a culinary journey to South India that’s worth...
Read moreA disappointment for the malayalis but maybe not for the locals taste. If you ignore what the menu or the name of the restaurant wants to portray and eat it without description, there is a high likelihood you might like it..that's until you get your bill. Overpriced for what they offer and they try too hard to be fine dine. The waiters were nice and polite, the dining area and washrooms very clean. There're more north Indian than south Indian or I'm not really sure since I couldn't classify what I ate since it had everything all at once. I half expected them to pack me some cashew nuts since there were barely any in the dish itself. There were enough beans to make 2 other dishes in my chicken gravy. Parotta is a slab of maida that looks like a facemask (don't try though) and it's more expensive than one. Nan was good and whatever chicken the cashew chicken had in the dish was good too. We asked for medium spicy and it almost burnt the mouth away. Our bill said 'Mad Spicy' and it indeed was. Overall a great recommendation to not go there. Atleast ignore the Kerala and the flavours part. Didn't interact with the chef but I did read the comments and response from the restaurant on other comments. If you want to cater to your regular customers, you're probably doing a brilliant job but the native malayalis definitely come out disappointed. You have great staff as well. Maybe a rebranding or reducing the prices might...
