I took my two adult children and their partners for a Christmas meal yesterday. Three of the meals arrived at the table together, but two were missing. The waitress returned to our table to explain that the two missing meals had been taken to a couple on another table. When the staff realised the mistake, they went to retrieve the two missing meals only to find that the couple were now eating our two meals, even though they had not ordered meals remotely like the ones they were eating! So, we were told, they were having to cook these two meals again. Consequently, by the time the two missing meals arrived at our table the other three of us, who had been served, had nearly finished eating our meals. We were thanked for being understanding. However, when I received the bill, I was appalled to find that there was no reduction to the bill total, in acknowledgement of the error, which was entirely the fault of the waiting staff and which spoilt our dining experience. I paid in full, not wishing to cause a scene in front of my children and their partners. However, I should not have been put in the embarrassing position of having to ask for such a reduction and this lack of financial acknowledgement of the error made has marred my perception of this establishment, which I have been a customer of for 32 years. Very poor and...

The welcome was lovely , I was seated inside , they did have hand sanitizer, screens between tables. The waitress was friendly, bought menu to table .we had to order at the counter which was busy chaotic, felt very rushed . The pub was decorated beautifully, it was very warm inside , the lighting was very dim were I sat, I could hardly read the menu. The mains I ordered & my friend were lamb shank , new potatoes, veg it was a reasonable portion .my friends chicken meal was like a child size ,very poor indeed it looked awful against my plate. The dessert we both ordered chocolate fudge cake with custard, I tasted my first mouthful cake was delicious, the custard was cold what a disappointment. I had to wait to pay ina queue were everyone was ordering food/ drinks for a long time . Alot of things could be done better , alot of people passing by constantly while I was eating, in these covid times , not good atall. I think you must limit walk ins ,it felt too crowded ,chaotic for me not a relaxing experience atall. I took advantage of eatout to help out because for the portions , I would not pay their prices...

Visited for Sunday lunch yesterday with family and dogs. Was rather worried by scruffy surrounding streets, but we received a warm welcome by the jovial cockney gentleman behind the bar. We were shown to a table in the conservatory which was bright, but cool. The service was very quick, although it wasn't very busy (very hot day so most people probably on beach). All members of staff were friendly, polite and efficient. I had the small roast for just £5.95. (nice that this isn't just available to children - I hate to see food wasted). The beef was very tender and the vegetables perfect. Enjoyed the potato gratin as well as the roast potato. Ate every scrap, felt full, but just had room for pudding (not a huge selection, but a good mixture) which was scrummy apple pie and ice cream. A very traditional pub, not a pretentious over-priced gastro pub. Great...

A well loved local venue. Amazing staff with a highly proactive manager ensuring guests truly feel recognised and cared for. I had three guests on my most recent visit and they all commented on how wonderful the service and food were. Sadly, wonderful venues such as these are becoming part of England's vanishing vistas. Make sure you visit The Marina. You'll be glad you did. The food was magnificent and the service far exceeded the food. Glad I don't live locally; I'd end up looking like the north side of a south bound horse! I highly and warmly recommend. And my Curate, The Venerable Mr Piddles, highly agrees! 4 wags and 4 Woofs- his highest accolade! There are even convenient places nearby where Mr Piddles can check his 'Wee Mail' and do some 'downloading.' What more can you ask for?

Today The Marine served the best fish and chips I've ever eaten. The cod was perfectly crisp, tasty, and huge. The chips were as good as they get and even the mushy peas were flavorful. Fish and chips were screaming hot, fresh out of the fryer, and the mushy peas were steaming hot. The pints were cold and the service was friendly and welcoming. The decor was traditional and comfortable and the crowd of locals added to the ambience. I'll gladly return if my travel schedule allows. Perfect fish and chips at a reasonable price. Who knew? That was a rhetorical question; obviously the local regulars know. Go if you have a chance.
