On a family visit to England (we live in Canada) We didnāt get the time with family as planned due to my father suddenly passing. We decided to meet our family at their local for a fair -well drink. We didnāt book as emotions were high so honestly didnāt think about it. On arrival I was greeted with ā did you book?ā I replied no sorry then i was told well we donāt have room. We asked if we could just have a drink at the bar Of which just got an eye roll.
Yes it was busy, but no-one acknowledged us to serve us a drink. And we kept getting shouted at to move as they were running food. āNo excuse meā
I asked where best to stand and she shouted at the other bar area. I hadnt been before and didnāt know where that was. I asked for direction she just said āthere ā

I appreciate we had arrived on quiz night but if the staff just said iām really sorry we are fully booked. We have a bar area over here if you wouldnāt mind standing here so we can run food clearly & and we can serve you a drink. Or even tell us unfortunately we are full and not able to accommodate you this evening . Nothing just blatant rudeness. . Top tipā¦.. Never arrive to the Rodmill without booking as you will not be treated well.
My brother, mum & mum in law live in walking distance and use the pub for lunch.
Sadly that was their last visit as they were completely shocked with the rudeness!
We ended up leaving without ordering and going to the wheatseath who were busy but so friendly, fantastic service and food and made room for us to laugh & cry and say goodbye to each other after the hardest & unexpected week.

   Read moreWhen we arrived it had been raining all day and the car park was particularly flooded which was undignified for my misses as she had to jump on my back so I can do a river crossing for her. When we entered we were unsure where to go to get seated as there was no welcoming service, after being shown a table we started to order their menu is amazing a lot to choose from and when it all arrived it was good tasting and proportion food. I went for a challenge meal and dominated it and didn't receive the certificate, name on a wall or a freebie like the website stated which was a little bit downhearting. The server had no idea about the food or menu not knowing what the challenge steak cut was or what we win if we did beat a challenge meal. The atmosphere was a bit off as it was mostly a pub than a restaurant and was close proximity to each other and as the prices are very good you do get some 'interesting" clientele. It's quite like a weatherspoons but with better food. Had 2 mains 2 drinks and pitcher of cocktail and it came to £50 1 of the mains was a 24 Oz steak and the other a rib eye. The cocktail pitcher costed only £7! Soo cheap!
In conclusion, this is a casual meal out, not a date...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHow times have changed! Management has urged us to review our visit and to contact Greene King in order to get things fixed. They state they have had a refurbishment in the past 4 years but didn't touch the toilets. All urinals were leaking urine all over the floor, which is shown in the picture and is totally unacceptable. I literally had to wipe me feet on exiting the gents. The staff are fantastic, very friendly, the service was very good and to the most part the food was well presented, very reasonably priced and tasted great. My only gripe with the food was the hand battered fish. I understand fully the current economic climate, but the amount of batter is by far greater than the amount of fish that can be compared to the amount served in a fish finger! Although not much actual fish, the batter was tasty, as was the ration contained within! My last visit here was pretty much perfect, GREENE KING!!!!. You need to be ashamed!! You're putting the reputation of a great pub straight down the metaphorical leaking urinal within your gents loo!! Pull your finger out and sort it!! Calls will be made to head office, pictures will be sent, and review will be made back up...
