Simply Patisserie — Restaurant in Eastbourne

FOOD: My daughter + I had a late booking for lunch today. I was excited to take her to my new find after the lovely Coffee l had there + the delicious takeaway lunch I brought home for us last week. And again, the food today was delicious.

ATMOSPHERE: We would have preferred they hadn’t mopped the floor around us whilst eating.

SERVICE: I wish I could give this lovely restaurant 5 Stars. The young waiting staff, l definitely give 5 Stars, they were all really happy, caring + attentive. It was the person whom appeared to be in charge didn’t demonstrate the same ethos as the staff.

The lady I presumed to be in charge, really surprised us with a remark which I found hostile + my daughter said, “That was not nice!”… When l asked to pay + explained, as l did last week…I’m disabled + need to pay at the table, which last week she said wasn’t a problem nor in future visits. Today, she said I had to pay at the counter. When I reminded her what she said last week…her curt reply…“We have too many people in here to remember everyone!”

Why the comment at all? All she should have said…”No problem I’ll deal with it for you!”

Then another issue when I gave tips for two specific staff…said, they we’re not allowed to accept as it had to go into a generic pot. I expressed on this occasion l didn’t approve + it was for them specifically. My daughter said the lady made another remark, which I didn’t hear.

I would very much like to be able visit here on a regular basis. Meantime, I hope the lady replies with an explanation to...

Atmosphere felt horrible as soon as we walked in. My mum and I ordered two smoothies and 2 quorn curries. The smoothies took about 15-20 minutes and when they arrived were horrible. Mine tasted just like watery avocado. We didn't complain about the smoothies but we did tell the young man (possibly a teenager) that both of our meals were very salty. There wasn't much reaction apart from the girl working there saying something along the lines of 'it's probably the air fryer' but other than that didn't really acknowledge it. (Fortunately we were only changed for the smoothies, even though they were horrid) we also heard staff whispering to each other after we complained of our food being salty. The staff seemed to be in their teens or early twenties but were messing around loudly and behaving like school children. My mum and I will be giving this place...

Pleasant and warm welcome. Food looked better than tasted. Had a slice of coffee and walnut cake - obviously kept in too cold an environment or possibly stale as cake was dense and quite hard and the butter cream was solid! I could not eat it and advised the cashier when I went to pay and was told that coffee and walnut cake always has a dense texture due to the nut content!!! As this is my favourite cake, I tend to have it wherever I go and can honestly say I have never had one as bad as this one. Never mind my birds enjoyed it, even if it was an expensive treat for them. No apology or offer of replacement/refund - first impressions and all...
