From the look of the place, I wasn't expecting much, but it still managed to disappoint. We ordered a coffee, a lemonade, 2 lots of hotwings, mac n cheese and chips. In the quiet restaurant, the waitress seemed to have a hard time hearing us and asked us to repeat our orders several times. A second waitress came over to let us know the lemonade machine was broken (strange there was only one (and that the bar had only been open a handful of weeks (and that the original waitress didn't alert us that it was broken))), so we both changed our drinks to Guinness. The Guinness turned up fine. Then our hot & spicy wings turned up. They were tasteless. Worse than tasteless. Even the sour cream and hot sauce couldn't remedy them. As our hotwings were coming to an end, we enquired about the sides. We were told it was the waitresses fault as she hadn't specified that they should come out at the same time (why this needed to be specified, and why the waitress was blamed is beyond me). After we had finished our wings, our sides came out. I opened two of the macaroni cheese balls to find no macaroni. I enquired about the missing macaroni and was told they were cheese balls and the kitchen had messed up (why I needed to know it was the kitchen's fault is beyond me). Eventually the macaroni cheese balls came out which turned out to be the best part of the meal. The bill was brought over, which still had the coffee on. We asked for this to be removed and the new bill now had the lemonade on. So, 3rd time lucky, we paid the bill and...

2 stars due to I feel a lack of good service and good quality food.
Allow me to elaborate: -Upon sitting we had to wait 15 minutes before being offered drinks -The menu was very limited. -Potato Skin"S" was only one? For £5.50 and a promise of plural (being 2) I was a bit deflated. -£9.50 for an undersized pizza. I feel wetherspoons is better quality and for far less. -The margarita pizza that came out was to my taste rather overcooked and lacked topping.(it was very thin) even for stonebaked. -my friend had to ask 3 times for water and between doing so the staff member was pouring their own drink. -One member of the Bar staff used his hand to scoop ice into glasses.(during a time when such a virulent disease is present??) This was after cutting their hand too! -Before we paid the waitress asked us to load everything onto the trolley. I dont think its unreasonable that once we had piled it up to help , that they clean once we have left. We just really didn't feel attended to by any of the staff
I hate being a complete downer and I'd like to add ,our bill came to 35 pounds because of the eat out to help out. However, if it was the supposed 70, I would not have been satisfied in the slightest.
Positive things to note.
-We didnt wait an unreasonable amount of time for food. -nice decor -The bar has a good standard of cleanliness -The Scottish man at the door was...
Read moreWhat a great idea! We went at lunchtime, and we were transported straight to America with this friendly, UK flavored (did you see what I did there?) take on a classic stateside bastion - the sportsbar. Bright and airy with a clean uncluttered look, the bar has plenty of comfortable seating but still leaves space to be wheelchair and pushchair friendly. Our efficient server took the order, and while there's no pretence at fine dining, the food was well cooked, well presented and perfectly acceptable. It was showing two football matches on the multiple screens so had a fairly football-keen crowd in but also Mums and kids in. Even better, we actually had to query the tab with the server because it was so cheap we thought they had forgotten something! I don't think I have ever done that before.
I have only one suggestion to bring the sportsbar feel even more alive - how about cranking up some music instead of the soundtrack from the matches? That's the real sportsbar vibe. Oh - and one screen showing something other than football - the US bars always have one on a news channel with the crawling ticker tapes.
Super place - do give it a try. (PS I am just a satisfied customer and have no other link - I'm just really pleased to see a lively bar in...
