Terrible service, rude staff, (Alex the manager) likes to shout in your face, food terrible! Family of 4 ordered selection of bread and olives and halloumi fries - ordered 2 fillet steaks 2 chicken and chip dinners - 2 sides of onion rings and side of fries.
They took the money- when we placed our order- brought out the bread olives no cutlery- no extra side plates. Then (sitting outside) 18mins after someone comes to inform us there is no steak - and could we chose something different- (lots missing from the menu - my son had to order chicken which he never really wanted and I ordered a starters as nothing on the main. (We was obliging them by now as we had already ordered 18mins before and they didn’t give us an option to cancel those meals)
When food did come out the two chicken previously orders where burnt dry un edible, - I asked to speak to a manager- he shouted in my face I asked him politely to back up which he did but continued to shout - sorry about that and try to make a number of excuses as to why front of house didn’t know what was missing from the menu when we had ordered - blamed kitchen staff - (other People didn’t get what they orders ether)
Badly run, extremely badly managed- young man working there with same name - politer and more sensible then the manager - save you’re money - treat yourself to an Aberdeen Angus or a Harrods steak - same money as this place with out the abuse - chicken better quantity in a kfc then here.
Left £103 worse off - shouted at and hungry - i am not the confrontational type / I don’t get out that often due to a illness - it’s important to Make memories with my family - whilst I’m still here. And being screamed at by this horrible man -
(Also when the food we had to swap for did come out - they didn’t even bring it all out —and hand to go back in a second time to get a refund for the chips -
Please could someone inform me of the head office or owner of this pub - as I want to make a formal complaint about this and your member of staff. Have photos and...
Read moreSaw this by chance on a river cruise from Kingston to Hampton Court and decided I'd like to go for my birthday lunch a few days later. Tucked away you'd never know it was there down a side street and past some pretty cottages. First impressions very good though confused by "The Albany" and so many yards sign that is past the steps yo the main entrance. There's no gate to the terrace so don't understand why it's there. Once we'd found the entrance, along with another couple, we were warmly welcomed and given a choice of tables on the terrace. Our server, Harry, was very friendly and attentive, took our order and served our food within a short period of time during which we enjoyed the view from our table of the river, the passenger boats, wildlife, etc which was delightful. I had the pork belly which was absolutely delicious the crushed roast potatoes and vegetables were underneath the pork so it doesn't look much in the photo but the meal was amazing and filling. My husband had the chicken which was equally good, and he loved the gravy. Despite this, he managed to have the trio of mini desserts afterwards, and Harry thoughtfully brought another spoon "just in case" I should be able to find room to try it :-) Our favourite of the chocolate brownie and ice cream, lemon tart, and rhubarb and strawberry crumble with custard was definitely the latter. We'll probably have that on it's own the next time! The starters look very tempting but we declined, anticipating great things with the main meal and we are so glad we did otherwise we wouldn't have got through the rest! A great experience, delicious food, and lovely view by the river, a perfect birthday treat. Thank you, Harry and the team at The Albany, we'll see you again soon (most likely to try one of the Sunday roasts which look...
Read moreReally disappointing experience for a family birthday Sunday lunch
Half the starters came out along with the kids meals first (as requested which was appreciated). Kids curries were missing the chicken from the chicken curry. Baffling. Sent back and promised new ones on they way 5 mins tops. 10-15 mins later still chasing. They eventually arrived (reheated not re done) with an over cooked grilled bit of chicken placed on the top. In fairness the staff unprompted offered to take them off the bill, but rightly so as the kids were beyond hungry by now and the food so unappetising.
Kids high chairs were sticky and grimy. I got a baby wipe out to give them a quick clean, wipe was black and sticky. Horrid. Had to chase the other shared starter which eventually arrived, but not long after we had finished the main courses started to appear & the tables had not be cleared. I had to ask the waitress to stop trying squeeze the mains on the table and to clear away our starter plates away …
Baby change / disabled toilet was kept locked - very odd. But then no one could find the key, and a member of staff tried to pick the lock to get it them open for us - It’s beggars belief!! You’re a family pub why on earth is the baby change / disabled toilet locked ?!
Multiple requests for more water, the bill … honestly just an absolute shambles.
Credit where credit is due the food - roast dinners all round for the grown ups were actually very good & the staff kept friendly & professional.
The Albany had been a family favourite for some years now as we are local, however I really wouldn’t go back here with the kids in tow or as a large group again,...
