Hampton Court Palace Ice Rink — Attraction in London

I came with my partner and my two children seven years old and six. At start we were late because my daughter had accident in the bathroom as the ring had caffe shop but not toilets!!! We had some fodd to eat and my daughter needed toilet so we have to run to the palace gardens toilets which are a bit far for a child to relieve themselves from the ice ring ! How ridiculous ! so we have lost 25 minutes and the stuff said there’s nothing they can do because I asked if we could use next session free of charge she said no. Bear in mind I paid 62.65 £! So we only had 20 minutes left but it felt like 5 minutes because of the amount of water on the ring! I did got another session just for my son and my partner for 39.80£ but there WAS SO MUCH WATER!!! IMPOSSIBLE TO SKATE WITHOUT FALLING!!! My children have fallen so many times because of the amount of water they were soaking wet and cold / crying. Then when my son got out from the ring he fallen down and cut his finger from the skating shoes the stuff did not had first aid! Absolutely disaster… We all were so upset the luck of compassion from the stuff. So cold and no bothered. Absolutely out of touch! We should have been offered full refund or gift card and asked to return when they sort out the access of water. I spend 102.45£ just to get soaking wet on the ring! The customer service team absolutely shambles,no experience whatsoever. Shame on them! Definitely will never ever go...

I must say I wasn’t impressed in the slightest. Ice rink was too overcrowded, bordering on unsafe. The ice was bumpy and waterlogged in places. We had paid a £20 deposit on a table which we could then redeem against food to find that there was little food left to choose from. Kids would not touch the Brie or prawn sandwiches that were left. They didn’t even have hot chocolate or any mezza sharing boards. useless.

Manager couldn’t refund this £20 and advised me to speak to the head office. Head office were unhelpful also. Basically told me that someone else could have had my table and they would have lost revenue by refunding me as someone else may have spent on the Brie sandwiches.

I honestly would not recomend. Better off going to a real ice rink and much cheaper. There was nothing special about it or this experience! Plus I’m £20 down!

Update: editing my view to add that Hampton court palace replied to this review leaving their email address (as you can probably see below) they have now refunded my £20. It’s a shame this couldn’t have been dealt with by the previous people I had spoken to and that I had to ring round so many people and left with a bitter feeling from them. However I am grateful to a pleasant lady named Abbie for sorting this and getting my money back to me before Xmas! I still stand by my initial thoughts in my review but wanted to make sure I updated the full story...

THANK YOU ALL SO SO MUCH! We had a blast this year! for every year that I’ve been ice skating (or try) this is the first time that I actually didn’t spend falling down!!! I wanted to thank staff on email (customer service) for getting in touch with me and providing an amazing service and taking my feedback from last year on board! The queue was super quick, we had more than our allocated time (mind you no time is enough for the kids on the ice) ⛸️⛸️⛸️👦🏻👦🏻👧🏻❤️… everything was superb. Will definitely be visiting again next year 🤗

Really lovely place (Hampton Court Palace) the kids enjoy this time of the year and skating! However because I couldn’t get tickets for Somerset house this year on my specific date we choose to go to this place. there should be a better system for getting into the ice rink (especially since it’s only for 30 mins (super pricey FYI for 30 mins) we were in the queue for longer than I wanted to be, although we arrived early, the queue wasn’t being managed properly (although our tickets were purchased online, there were still a lot of people in our queue requesting information etc, thus cutting into our skating time (which we didn’t get back) so all in all my family and I had only got 15 mins of skating time :( would I go again skating here, NO is the simple answer.
