Well today we had a booking for 1.45pm. At 1.13 pm I got a call to bluntly tell me that if we choose to come at our booked time, we would not be able to order food for at LEAST an hour after our arrival. The reason being apparently the delivery came was meant to be at 9am) and the 'chef' had to unload it and pack it away. Apparently there were 2 staff on site. Why was I not called this morning?? So as we arrive we sit down for lunch, waited for the hour to go past, observing there were more than 2 staff in duty, chatting and standing around so that was a lie. We went to order coffee and cake and starters, only yet to be told "we don't do cake" and the kitchen is not open for another 10 minutes. An hour already gone past!!! No apology or nicely explaining that "sorry we don't have cake today" when clearly it is on the menu. I'm really not pleased with The Bell in Molesey. I drive for over an hour with my disabled mum to get there to meet my daughter only to be be treated like that today. We eventually left as we were not treated like valued customers and didn't feel welcomed at all. Very upset and annoyed about today as it was long planned and very looked forward to, but were greatly disappointed by The Bell. Thanks for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHaving been to a BOOKED Birthday luncheon party for 13 people to celebrate a friends Birthday today ( 30 May 2025), we were told that we would have to wait an hour and a half for a meal. On hearing this we complained and was not help by friends of the barmaid also butting in with their worthless opinions. Had we just walk in, I could understand this but not a BOOKED a event. We were served by a rude barmaid behind the bar who seriously needs to learn some manners on how to treat customers. We requested to put the birthday cake in their kitchen which was denied as āitās hot in thereā. The food finally arrive in just over an Hour. The rocket salad had seen better days and was just limp and not very fresh. The salmon I had was ok along with the potatoes. The rude attitude of the staff possibly explained why the bar did not have many people in it. Although there were some children and Families outside. This whole episode was not needed on my friends birthday after she had taken so much trouble to organise it and spoilt her day. It definitely not a pub the 13 of us would ever go the again. We will find a better quality and better service...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Bell is always busy (no matter what day it is) and the atmosphere is usually quite lively. The decor is really great & the place is literally ancient with a lot of history. However, their food I always find is pretty average and the menus change frequently (although this particular one at the moment seems to be lasting). The staff are okay but seem off the whole time & therefore you almost feel guilty ordering drink / food. There is usually a game on the big TVs they have (3 of them I think) - this is a shame as they do have a room on the side which has a TV and maybe they could just show games in there? That way, when you're trying to eat dinner and have a conversation it isn't interrupted by people shouting / swearing @ the TV every 2 minutes? Other than this it is a very cozy, old pub with a traditional feel to it. Large garden which is great...
