The City Arms — Restaurant in Elmbridge

The sun is shining and having not long moved into near by area, I stopped to have a bottle of wine in the sun. At first 4 people behind the bar looked manic and disorganised for a very empty pub. I waited whilst a bald gentleman who was in the middle of a conversation with 2 patrons to at the least acknowledge me, he never did.Even though he saw me walk in. 2 younger female bar members ignored also. I guess taking a leaf from the male. After one of the female bar staff was flustered about the Pepsi foaming up as another staff member of staff advised they had just changed it. The older of the 3 females who had done this change, was bubbly, smiling and acknowledged I was waiting to be served at an empty bar. Possibly one of the best pubs serving food that I've ever visited. Not the biggest bar area but the staff are always welcoming and courteous. Went in on three separate occasions and had different person on bar each time. Food is FANTASTIC!!! The specials board in the "restaurant" section of the pub are not to be missed. Ambience is kept cosy with a fire built from barbecue coals: inventive and inspired. Bar staff looked after us immensely well, just as if we were in a restaurant. We took my husband's Mum & our son for a Sunday roast and we're not disappointed.

We had reserved a table & were welcomed by genuine friendly staff.

Drinks great. Delicious fresh food. Excellent quality. Perfect portions. Excellent choice. Amazing desserts. Great value for money. We will definitely visit again. The only negative was a family of five that arrived before our desserts arrived with children playing Thier devices too high & adults in turn talking loudly over the children.
