The regent is overall a nice local bar. However, some of the staff are very rude and prejudice to members of the public who are 21 and under (like me). They will characterise you with other people of a similar age who they have had a negative experience with. For example, I was finishing a drink and I was told that “If you don’t finish your drink now, you’ll have it taken off of you”. I understand that the pub was coming to a close but being forced to “finish up” a drink that I spent my hard earned money on was extremely disrespectful and deserves a look into how the staff treat customers. In addition, upon entering the pub (after having to show ID), I didn’t appreciate being stared out by what I assume to be the manager of the pub. This has happened on multiple occasions that I have been in the regent and I am fed up of being characterised as someone that may cause trouble. I would love to recommend the regent as a great pub, (from what it used to be), for the under 21’s but it just doesn’t seem like I can. There has been a lot of change to the regent, in recents past, to what I assumed to be good, but it has turned into a nightclub vibe that discriminates against anyone under the age of 21 but invites them to come in. Most people turn up to drink a lot and go home but I am not happy with the service from the staff and security. The food and drinks are at a good standard for the price but have gone up from the previous prices in the past. There is a lot of good that comes from this pub but there is a lot that needs to change for it to be a...
Read morewent there last night to watch the tyson fury fight with another friend of mine and we were denied entry at the door 15mins before the fight had even started (not even 10pm at this point). we got told by security that the manager had closed the entry for the night because of “maximum capacity” even though we could see inside there was still plenty of space and even chairs/sofas by the pool table available (enough room for the 10 people who were standing outside by this point). no one was let in for the rest of the night even when people inside the half empty pub left… no other pub in town had the fight on so the entrance area to this pub pretty much ended become a free for all of people huddling together by the windows to watch the fight. terrible service considering prior to our visit we had checked that they has the fight on as well as their opening times and nowhere did it mention to arrive before a certain time as they would close the entry. disappointing, wont be coming back and hopefully neither will the rest of the people who...
Read moreUpdate: I gave them a new chance this week... it was even worse then before. The waitress was disgusting, when I told her I haven’t got all the food in my plate what I was suppose to get, she was upset because I complained about that, when she brought my food, she dropped it on the table, didn’t say anything jus left, and I didn’t touch my food because I wasn’t sure she didn’t spat on it... and my steak... it was burnt, black, impossible to eat...
I gave them many chances. They sell lots of stake but they don’t know how to make it! I’m a well done girl. I asked for well done and I’ve got medium or medium rare... once I sent back to the kitchen and what I’ve got was burnt outside and almost well done inside. I had steak today again... if that steak would spend a minute less in the frying pan the beef would still alive ... I was just thinking what would I get if I order medium? Raw meat?! Anyway the tables are sticky, no tissues, sauces are mostly empty... The prices are still kinda good but the quality is terrible. I won’t go...
