Excellent coffee in a light and airy, dog-friendly atmosphere! Upbeat and professional staff. The reason behind my 3-star review is the same issue I presented to the cashier when paying: a 'card only' payment policy send a terribly negative and exclusionary social message. I am lucky enough to have a bank account with access to a contactless card and online payment system, but adopting a 'no cash' policy sends the message that those who might not have access to the banking system are fully unwelcome at this establishment. Elderly patrons who pay with cash, those with autism or numeracy disabilities, people on a fixed income who live on cash based payments, or newly arrived immigrant populations without access to the banking system are therefore barred and willfully excluded from 17 Grams based on this policy! Your messaging needs to be reevaluated on the basis of social equity and fairness to the local community. Since I'm visiting a friend in Portslade, I visited several other shops on Boundary Road the same day (including the pet store, hardware shop, and another coffee shop across the road) all of which accept cash payments... so the 'safety and security' justification for not accepting cash falls totally flat: Not one other business I encountered is doing it. Please consider the extremely negative social message this sends those who might be less able to enjoy the luxury of access to traditional banking.... you are purposefully excluding and discriminating against a large part of your local market share in...

This morning I awoke and of course… began scrolling on tiktok. I went into a deep rabbit hole of iced coffee/matcha videos. one specific caught my eye. banana bread lattes… YUM!😍 brown sugar, banana, hot water…. bobs your uncle. however i’m only visiting brighton, so I can’t go making these syrups willy nilly you know. so I packed up my dreams and forgot about this. my boyfriend suggests we go for coffee hours later… ofc I said yas🤰🏽 we went to 17 grams when we first met and I remembered how scrumdidily their coffee was so we went there. when I walk in and read the menu board… I thought… are my eyes deceiving me? BANANA BREAD ICED MATCHA? I levitated off the ground and my smile grew almost sinister! I ordered and waited patiently. let me tell you it was a TREAT😍🤞🏼 couldn’t reccomend more. didn’t taste artificial you can tell the syrups made in house....
