Well what can i say, came for iftaar meal, first time coming, was expecting amazing dining experience like in the other akbars im used to, but it was pretty terrible
We booked table, and we was first customers to come in on the day and order our food first, but at around iftaar time when everyones food was coming out we was the last table served, how does that work, there was bigger parties than us being served too so made no sense, big insult to our table, two of the people with us told us lets go, they wanted to leave, iftar was at 6:25pm, we receive food around 7 o clock just few minutes after. Was very frustrating for us.
We was sat 5 of us on a 3 person table so it was very difficult to sit properly and even more of a headache to eat properly. Even the staff was struggling to figure out where to put our food, imagine if we all ordered one curry there wouldn't have been enough space to even put it on the table. We had to literally hold the naan in our laps at some points just to be able to eat. When asked if we could move to bigger table, they said all is booked, but then they sat people down in the bigger table without any bookings, theres even more evidence of this from previous review yesterday where someone said they got sat down without booking.
Various times wrong food and drinks kept coming to our table, which i understand new place, new staff, new everything, it takes time to get used to, so i dont mind that.
The next problem is the food i ordered normal not asian style, and my dish i asked for, was told would not be spicy anyways. When i eat the dish it was the spiciest dish on the table, and some of my friends ordered asian style and yet my one which was normal style was hotter, now mine and my friends stomach has been buggered since. Eating such spice on an empty stomach is very bad, which is why we ordered normal, so why they put the whole worlds spice in it i don't know. Had i not already had to wait such long time for the food i would have had them make me a new one, but since we got the food so late i just put up with it and now im suffering.
The next thing is i ordered an extra rubicon guava, it never arrived, we finished our food, table got cleaned, and got our bill, but it never arrived still. So that was another problem as i was dying from the spicy food which shouldnt have been spicy.
The next issue is some of the waiters didn't even get a chance to break their fast or eat anything, this one really upset me, especially the one who was serving us he was very nice man. You need to put a rota in schedule at iftaar time half staff go eat quickly, then switch over. This is how other restuarants do it, they are our muslim brothers and sisters too, look after them.
All in all my first experience here was terrible, it could also be my last experience here. I do love what you done to the place bought life back into it, but theres a lot of things that need sorting here, i was invited here to come checkout the new place and this was just very awful, im sorry to say as it is, it doesn't deserve to be...
Read moreI recently dined at Akbars with a party of nine for what we hoped would be a pleasant evening. Unfortunately, it turned out to be quite the opposite, all thanks to a very forceful and overconfident waiter named Jang.
We all knew what we wanted to order, and it wasn’t complicated – Lamb Karahi was our choice. However, when Jang came to take our order, he insisted we try the Charsi Lamb instead. We politely declined, explaining that one of our party had tried it before and didn’t enjoy it. Rather than respecting our choice, Jang refused to take "no" for an answer. He was adamant that the Charsi Lamb was superior and outright refused to let us order the Lamb Karahi, despite our repeated requests. His arrogant attitude was both frustrating and insulting. At one point, I even told him that we had specifically come for the Lamb Karahi, but he insisted we'd love his recommendation, even offering to bring the Lamb Karahi and fresh naan bread if we weren’t satisfied.
Reluctantly, we gave in to this pushy, dismissive behavior and ordered the Charsi Lamb along with a Butter Chicken curry, making it explicitly clear that we could not handle anything spicy and wanted both dishes mild. Jang assured us, but when the food arrived, it was an absolute disaster. The Charsi Lamb, while initially flavourful, was overwhelmingly spicy – our mouths were literally on fire after just a few bites. To make matters worse, the Butter Chicken, which we assumed would be a safe, mild option, was riddled with huge chunks of green chilies, turning it into another unbearable, hot, spicy ordeal.
When Jang returned to ask how the food was, I expressed my frustration about the heat level, reminding him we had asked for not spicy. His response? "It just comes like that." No apology, no attempt to fix the situation – just more arrogance. When I pointed out the giant green chilies in the Butter Chicken, again, he nonchalantly said, "It comes like that" making it seem as though it was out of a packet.
The final blow came when a member of our group questioned Jang about why he thought we could handle the spice. His response? "I thought you could take it because you were Asian." This was both offensive and infuriating, showing not only a lack of professionalism but also a complete disregard for customer preferences.
For the first time ever, we left most of our food uneaten, without the Lamb Karahi we initially came for. The only positive was the decor, which was admittedly nice, but that certainly wasn’t enough to salvage the experience.
We will never return to Akbars, and we certainly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience. The arrogance, poor service, and disregard for our requests made it one of the most disappointing meals...
Read moreDisappointed! Ive been to many Akbar branches. This one was the worst branch interms of over all experience i have ate at.
The bad experience started from the moment we were welcomed with fairly subdued "Hi". Once we were showed to our table, the menu was just dropped in the middle of the table and the staff walked off. Gentleman was called "Moshin".
When we were placing the order, i felt like i wasnt getting the staff's full attention as he kept turning his head towards other tables which i found quite rude. When asking for their recommendation on what to eat, the response were short.
At the start of our meal, we were provided with an iftari pack which was quite nice of them. There after the starters arrived. Ordered lamb chops (would recommend) , fish pakoras and samosa chaat.
I was very disappointed with the mains. Now we ordered Charsi Gosh on recommendation of the staff. If this is their best main meat dish then i think they need to review they selections of meat dishes. It was tasteless. I also ordered garlic naan. It smelt like garlic but didnt taste like a garlic naan. Ive had garlic naans in the past with the garlic butter visible on the naan. This just had a normal colour.
Payment was taken and no goodbye after making the payment. So poor customer service again!
It was iftari and i needed to get to the mosque for prayers, so i didnt make any complaints during my dining.
I wont be going back to...
