Absolutely excellent from start to finish. Booked the week before and noted that we were bringing a dog and they found us a quiet area in the restaurant. Service was excellent and balanced attentiveness to not being too in your face. All was authentic. Felt like they genuinely cared if you were ok.

Now onto the food. This is an excellent Mexican. I like the fact the menu was actually quite restricted which means they’ve focused their energy on making everything delicious. My wife and I had the slow cooked beef bowl which was amazing. The starters were very good as well. Literally cannot fault the place at all. The vibe was really good, very relaxed and music was decent.

Highly recommend but make sure you book if going at a weekend as we saw 3-4 couples get told it was fully booked. Also you have to order the day before so keep your eye out...

Really lovely atmosphere and super friendly and attentive waiting staff. Great build up and smells from the kitchen were lovely.

Unfortunately can only give three stars as our taco shells were very stale and bendy- looked and tasted a bit too similar to the el paso ones you buy in tescos. From experience I know this brand has that as an issue.

No issue with the tacos not being homemade, however as they were stale we were told by staff we could have soft ones instead... the chef refused that offer and stated "this is what they are supposed to taste like", refusing us the alternative. For a 19 pound dish, we were thrown off by quite a simple solution being rejected. I've so far never had a chef insinuate I'm wrong and dig their heels in like that, threw us off a bit.

Everything...

First of all, the service and atmosphere here were absolutely excellent. This poor review is purely because of the lack of heat in the food.

I had ribs to start which were excellent but my main of beef chimichanga had no spice to it at all. I asked for some chilli sauce (twice, as the waitress unfortunately forgot the fist time) and was provided with what tasted like Thai sweet chilli sauce, not quite the sort of thing I was expecting.

May I suggest some (hot) chilli sauce e.g. Tabasco or Encona on the tables or even some chopped chillies so people can add heat to their food if required.

I would have requested that mine was made spicy but as we were a large party (the whole restaurant) we pre-ordered our meals and did not have a chance to request it...

Found Amigo's through Google reviews and who does not enjoy Mexican food. We booked online and exchanged a few emails with the restaurant. The dining area is modern, beautifully decorated and well maintained. We had the Patas Bravas and the Nachos to start. The dishes were bursting with authentic flavours. Be warned, the proportion sizes are big. This led to taking some of our main meal home! The mains were Prawn Tacos, Burritos and Enchiladas which were again, delicious. Service was inconsistent with multiple check ins followed by long gaps. There were also a few errors on our bill which were promptly sorted. Overall, well worth a visit when near Ulverston. The food is the stand out star of the show.

Absolutely fantastic! Cannot recommend highly enough! Been here several times for various occasions over the past 15 years. Food has always been exceptional. 5* service from beginning to end, from the point of booking, to leaving at the end of the evening. The staff team are the best in town - friendly, welcoming, polite, attentive and knowledgeable about dishes on the menu. The Mexican inspired food is beautifully presented and so flavoursome - don't be put off thinking it's all "too hot", there's something for everyone. The Amigos experience is one not to be missed!

Had a very enjoyable meal here for my daughter's birthday. The food was amazing and the staff were all friendly and keen to look after you. There was a double big table of people in at the same time as us, which made it a bit loud, and also, I could see they were struggling with service a bit. They did seat us later than we anticipated, and service took a while considering we had preordered. I am putting that down to the large group, but it wouldn't put me off going again. The main thing was my daughter had a great birthday meal and enjoyed every second.
