Four nights in Grange over Sands. Stayed at the Commodore for 4 nights, DBB, the bar was welcoming, staff very helpful, hotel clean. Food and drink very good, albeit dinner was a good plateful, and as we're getting on a bit, did prove too much at times, but reasonable quality. Now for the accommodation, unfortunately not as good as expected, whilst a very good price for B&B, the room had some problems. Firstly it should be said that the staff were informed of these faults, who promised to inform "management". Light in the hall way, needed an new bulb, shower curtain needed replacing, been too long in water becoming discoloured. Cold tap very wobbly, needed tightening before something worse happens. Toilet seat needs fixing. During our first night, lots of banging, which I eventually found to be a loose upper sash window, stopped the banging with beer mats, but that made a gap between the to sash sections, talk about drafty and cold, and let the flies in! Tried to stop the draft with a towel, picture below. After our first night we were out for the day, returned to find that our room was not serviced. Response from staff was to the effect that we had not left out the "clean my room sign" out, problem was, we didn't have one, once we got one no problems. The wifi was non existent in the room, did as staff, but they could only agree with us, but again would tell management. Extremely to frustrating to use a phone as a hot spot when the 4G was pretty bad too. Finally, our room was for three people, the single room had a door, but the main bedroom did not have one, surely it would be prudent to have one for privacy! A bit of TLC would be helpful, the room was clean though, and the bed comfortable.

Lunch time for 2 very quiet inside. Ordered coffee, which was lukewarm when it arrived. We only ordered one course. Hotshot pizza and a cajun chicken baguette. Unfortunately the pizza wasn't great, the base was thin which I like but it was flacky like pastry not pizza dough, it could have done with another 90sec in the oven as well looked a bit anemic. Baguette was tasty but less than you get filling wise at other places we have eaten in the area, chips were really good. Generally speaking it's more expensive than your standard pub food but Ulverston does seem to have upped its prices at most eateries and bars over the last few years, I think if you walked 500yrds you would find another 5 or 6 places to eat . Despite all this we have had a Sunday lunch here and it was very good so my advice would be do Sundays and avoid Mondays.

We had a 2 night stay at the Sun Inn Ulverston for the end of May Bank holiday weekend paying £174.20 per room Sunday to Tuesday no breakfast included, we was attending Cartmel Racing on the Bank Holiday Monday 🐎, we was made aware before hand by email that as a pub it was open till 2.30am Friday and Saturdays as well as Sundays on a Bank Holiday weekend so we expected noise on the Sunday night of our stay, we booked a deluxe room🤦‍♂️, well all I can say is if our room was deluxe I'd hate to see the standard rooms 🫣, walls had damp marks as if there had been a roof leak looked aweful 😬, the bedroom furniture looked as if it had been made during the napoleonic wars, no dressing table for the wife to do her makeup and if she wanted to use her straighteners she had to plug them in at the side of the bed till they was hot and then unplug them run over to the mirror that was located in the wardrobe door on the other side of the room and straighten her hair 😆 on the plus side the double bed was really comfortable😴, we booked 2 breakfasts for Monday morning £25 for both 🙄 they was ok but who ever cooked them needs a lesson in cooking eggs 🙄not in a million years were they worth £12.50 each 🤔 unfortunately it was Bank Holiday so nothing else was open on the Monday so had no choice really, as for the noise 🙈 oh well Sunday was very noisy but because we'd had a few ales we soon went to sleep only to be woken by a delivery to Tesco Extra next door at 07.30 am, as for the staff they was polite and very nice but they failed to mention that after 11pm on Monday night the front door closes, fortunately I'd had the thought to call in earlier and ask a guy behind the bar, he told me the back door is open 24 hours a day which we later eventually found after some dectective work in the dark 🫣, don't think that is a very safe idea as you could have anyone wondering around the hotel after the pub closes bit dangerous for women id say 👻, finally Monday night pub closed early so no noise 😴😴 only to be woken by deliveries at 04.30 am and another one at 07.30 am to Tescos Extra 😬😬 would I stay here again sorry NO would I recommend it sorry NO, is it a nice pub yes, I've given it 3 stars because it was clean and the staff were very very nice, who ever owns it should concentrate on the pub and probably forget about the hospitality side cause it...

booked 2 nights Airbnb , |||| firstly - when I arrived at accommodation it was under a different name that was advertised on Airbnb as coaching Inn was the name on the advert on arrival it was the Sun inn which confused us.||Secondly - on Arrival in our room it was quite hot and there was no air-conditioning so I endeavour to open a window there were three windows in our room one was nailed closed the other two opened but outside directly there were pigeons roosting and lots of pigeons droppings and pigeon poop dust all outside our window and on our windowsill we therefore couldn’t open any of our windows||pigeons droppings and dust are a health hazard and breathing this in can cause Cryttococcosis, histoplasmosis, psittacosis a serious health hazard||||Thirdly -I then proceeded to go downstairs to inform the staff we could not stay in this room I got to the second floor and could not find the exit to get down to the next level all doors had fire exit on them!! I had to ring the property and speak to a staff member who then then came up and found me and showed me the way downstairs The doorway I should have gone through had a fire exit on it and a bar across it was very confusing!!||I spoke to a staff member name Liam and asked him if I could speak to the manager he said he was duty manager I explained that I could not stay in the room due to the windows in the pigeons droppings he never offered me another room i therefore left and did not stay there for the two nights that I booked and paid||I sent a polite email to the host Kirsty explaining to her and asking for a refund I have sent a second email to Kirsty asking for a refund||I have had no reply from Kirsty !! I am currently going through Airbnb for a refund|| I will be informing the environmental health agency of the hazards outside the windows and I will be informing the local fire safety department of signage in the property it’s confusing to allow you to get down to the lower level basically the building is a health hazard and safety hazard||I have photos to uphold my complaint||I world not recommend...
