We visited Ford Park having arrived in Ulverston quite late in the afternoon, and just wanting somewhere to go that was dog-friendly, that would be suitable for my two youngest daughters to play, and also where I could walk with my mum who is now getting on in years. Ford Park delivered! I opted for the park as its very close to the monument/lighthouse and can be accessed from there. Even though the park has opening and closing times it is, in actual fact, accessible 'out of hours' as there is no gate that is locked. You can actually drive into the park (single track road) and park in a small area. side. I actually noticed a few cars parked on the grass. My girls thoroughly enjoyed playing on the park amenities. Just past the house (in the middle of the park) there is also a lovely enclosed garden area that is run by friendly volunteers. You can buy plants and horticultural goodies there too. Read moreWent to the park for a Park Run which is held here every Saturday at 09:00. The park was clean and neat. The children's playground was tidy and as far as I could tell all the apparatuses seemed to be working. There is a lovely-looking cafe in the park. Did pop my head in to see it but we had to rush to our next kid's activity appointment so did not sample their goodies this time. There is also a garden nursery on site. There are restrooms at the cafe but did not use them either so I cannot comment on the condition. Plenty of space for a picnic and for the kids to dash around. Dog-friendly too with doggy dodo bins...
