I drove down from Truro to try an Ann's pastie as seen on be TV. I went for a medium steak. The staff were very warm and friendly checking I didn't want to add a coffee or a drink. The pastry was amazing best I have had in Cornwall. I had been a little disappointed as initially I didn't find the steak, all was at one end. On contacting customer services to review I was delighted with the service given, who immediately apologised and looked at a solution to resolve. then you look into the commercial market many makers not even worth mentioning (rowes,warrens,oggy oggy, minsters....)
The ones that stand out to me are Pips of penryn, Marys grampound road, Philps porthleven, barnecutts wadebridge.
But Annes have gone further and replicated me mothers pastry what a treat - Meat and veg correct producing a nice burn on the underside seasoning good. Only thing that mithed me was a top crimp but everyone has there theory on...
Read moreOh no the only "Ann's Pasties" now available will be from the Helston bakery......nothing like the pasties made fresh at Ann's Lizard shop We got pasties from the Porthleven shop yesterday. They were awful ☹️ made with tough chewwy chucks of meat.....we would have returned them had we not walked to Loe Bar to have our lunch. We had brought an extra pastie to share, but that like the "meat" got feed to the seagulls. Needless to say that'll be the last time we buy a factory produced Ann's pastie... Luckily Good proper pasties available...
