ASDA Cafe — Restaurant in England

The cafe here is large and spacious, it's warm and well lit with good wheelchair access and facilities. Serves food from early morning until early evening. The menu includes breakfasts, lunchtime meals, snacks, drinks and desserts. The staff are friendly and helpful and the service consists of a mixture of self service cafeteria style and table service. The menu is quite limited at lunchtime, I asked for the steak and ale Pie but was told it was unavailable due to waiting for delivery, my second choice was the fish (cod) which was available but I was told that it would take awhile to prepare so I settled for option three an all day brunch. My meal arrived very quickly, however I found it to be to be barely warm, the sausages were small poor quality mass produced and pretty tasteless, the bacon again was poor quality being thin,fatty and hard, two fried eggs, frozen chips, baked beans and half a fresh tomato which was probably the best thing on my plate and a mug of tea. This was a joke. I had a brunch. The fresh chips were certainly not freshly cooked as they were cold and inedible, The bacon rashers were small, more rash than rasher I would say. I swear the sausages were really slightly inflated cocktail sausages, they were that small, but no, that cannot be true as they were totally tasteless as well. Two fried eggs,(Small), one cooked OK with yolk, the other, the yolk had burst and mixed with the white, but fried anyway. Those poor baked has-beans. Serving food on a tiny plate just enhances the effect. The idea being that it makes the portions look larger. Unfortunately it makes the diner feel that they have been well and truly ripped off. This rare delicacy cost over £6.00 and you dont get a drink or anything else. Slimmimg World take note. This is the place to send your clients. ASDA take note. £2 for one portion of chips, a whole 15 chips, and there's always a limited menu - even after refurbishment that added a couple pointless TV screens showing the lack of menu and a self-order screen which isn't touched. The prices have only gone up and up, and the portion size is beyond ridiculous at this point. The bread is dry and borderline stale, the butter is the cheapest butter known to mankind, and you don't even get to butter your own toast! This cafe has gone from borderline acceptable to absolutely scandalous. Even the staff can't recommend half the food you can order here, not that that list is bigger than a handful of cold stale food. Avoid.
