So after spending £30 and waiting a hour and half, the delivery driver calls me ( from a 020 number ) , proceeded to tell me he can't find my address, turns out he went to glasney college at the University when I live at glasney place.
He then decided to ask me to come to him and pick it up, after telling him that defeats the point if 'delivery' he then says can I direct him to where I live.
After telling him where to go, he arrives 10 minutes later, stays in the car, forcing me to lean into his car to collect my food from him, then asks me where to go, telling him to turn around and go back the road he came.
Picturs provided of how greasy the chips were, the food arrived luke warm, poppadoms literally bend when they should be crispy.
Buttermilk chicken only had 4 pieces if chicken costing over £10, same for the chicken Korma what surprisingly has no flavour.
After asking for a refund of some sort, the man proceeds to tell us he will send a driver to collect all the food we've just waited a hour and half for, so they can take it back then repay us, after saying to him " you'll throw the food in the trash anyway ", he responds " no ill eat it instead ".
I used to hear good things about this place, this is personally my first and last time ordering here, absolutely ridiculous and even after calling trying to leave a complaint they completely...
Read moreFirstly, I must exonerate the delightful waitress who served us, she promptly attended to us and engaged in pleasant congenial conversation with us. Likewise, the complementary starter was a delightful addition that we weren't expecting and a lovely introduction to our meal though it was amusing to try and distinguish what it actually was. Moreover, this review is in relation to the quality of food we were served. Our starter of poppadoms and dips were disappointing. They were flat and the dips consisted of a smooth mango chutney, large roughly chopped tomatoes and onion chutney and something that was a liquid luminous green. However, it was the main course that completely floored us. I wished I had taken a picture of it to post on here because seeing is believing. What I ordered was a mild curry (i can't remember the name of it, it began with the letter N) containing 'various fruits'. I was expecting something with possibly pineapple, lychee, banana. What arrived was luminous yellow curry (not tumeric yellow)with meat and what seemed the contents of a tin Fruit Salad, including the red cherry that comes with it. Incredibly sweet with no hint of a 'mild curry' taste to it at all. We didn't want to complain because we didn't want to come across as being moaney...
Read moreI've ordered from Balti a few times now and though the food is great, the delivery service is terrible! I've had to call up every time to check on the order because of a 15 minute or more delay, (bare in mind this is after the hour-long wait for food after ordering on Deliveroo). The first time I called to ask about the food, I got told very quickly that it was on its way, then the staff hung up on me practically before I could react. Luckily this time was much lovelier, though she told me they'd run out of peshwari naans and their driver was running behind, so I think Balti Curries just has a time mismanagement issue. Hopefully they get it sorted out because their food is really good and they could be competing with Ghurka for top-curry-delivery-spot in my books if it wasn't for the long waits.
Edit: The order never arrived and the restaurant owner is now refusing calls. Haven't got any sign of an apology or refund yet. Does it really take over 2 hours to prep and deliver 2 bowls of curry, some rice and naan? Not gonna order...
