Not the friendliest of restaurants in the area (Pub and restaurant are two different entities, I only visited the latter); at some places, when you're a single traveller, you're being treated a bit like a pariah - this appears to be one of them. A group sitting next to me was treated much more pleasantly.

The location of course is wonderful, and the view from the terrace into Falmouth Harbour truly impressive. Note that you are not allowed to smoke or vape even on the terrace, which I was being reminded of in not too polite a fashion. The other pubs nearby all allow smoking/vaping in their outside seating areas.

The menu is streamlined, as Chain Locker belongs to a pub chain [Sic!], and you will find many of the same menus throughout Cornwall. I myself encountered that standardized menu at least four times during the week I spent visiting the region. The food I had (grilled mackerel with baby potatoes and a salad garnish) was rather decently prepared though. At UKP 13.90 it didn't come too cheap.

The inside of the restaurant is large and pretty, the beer selection fairly limited (as opposed to the pub). Beer prices are reasonable considering the location and the local competition.

It's a bit of a shame that nowadays most pubs are part of a chain (the most popular being The Spoon of course), as menus will inevitably be streamlined. If this doesn't bother you, you could certainly do a lot worse than at...

We went to this establishment for dinner with friends on 27/5/25. We were seated quickly as we had reservations. We ordered drinks which were not particularly fast to reach the table but were ok when they did. All 4 ordered our food at the same time so expected them to be served together.....wrong ! Firstly one board with fish on was served, followed by 2 fish and chips at least 5 minutes later. I was then told my burger would be another 3 minutes which turned out to be nearer 10 and was cooked to within an inch of its life. The other had already started as theirs was getting cold and the first one had actually finished. Sadly , as per usual, their answer is a free drink which sorry does not make everything better. The serving staff then took it in turns to come and ask "is everything ok? " which they clearly found funny. As we got up to leave we were mocked by the staff and were subjected to comments like " come again " and "have a nice night " which was said very sarcastically and they thought it was funny. This is probably the worst service I have ever had anywhere and the owners should be disgusted with the staffs behaviour. On the bright side the man in the bar downstairs was delightful and polite. I can't give no stars so you get a very undeserved and far to...

Visited the locker last night after my first food plan failed due to the harbour lights not serving take away when I walked past. As I hadn’t tried the food in the revamped pub I thought it was a good excuse. The restaurant is good and it makes the most of the old building with lots of exposed beams etc. The food is mainly traditional pub grub I had the wild boar burger which was good. I was going to leave my Falmouth burger for this week to the Meat Counter but there wasn’t a lot else on the menu that took my fancy. I think for the location and how they have refurbished the upstairs the menu could be better. I didn’t stay for a second pint as the Proper Job was not its normal standard upstairs, I opted to walk across to the Front Bar for my second pint of the evening.

Good to see this legendary pub back open after an extensive refit. The main bar has been modernised but keeps a lot of the old character. The beer selection is St Austell driven so you can expect all the standard Proper Job and Tribute, although they do have the St Austell attempt to catch on to the crafty hipster beers which aren't too bad. Haven't eaten yet but upstairs is a complete change everything now is square and straight as opposed to...

I don't normally give 5 stars but it was hard to fault our recent visit. Although not showing any availability on line it was worth a phone call to see if they had a table for 2 on the off chance. So glad they found space for us, and very pleased to find a specials menu to accompany the regular offerings. Wife had the breaded shoulder of lamb and loved it, I went for the seafood sharing platter for myself, thinking I'd be asking for a doggy bag for anything I couldn't manage. But after de- shelling the crevettes and eating the mussels the rest was a doddle. Very tasty warm crab paste on some fresh crusty bread. 3 or 4 small fillets of fresh mackerel and a pot of salt n pepper squid. All added up to a great meal. The service was top notch washed down with a great malbec. I'd recommend.

Don't hesitate to seek out this great place to eat when you are in Falmouth. There is a lunch menu for the bar area and outside and a more formal menu for the dining area upstairs. The staff are very welcoming and friendly - it is this approach from one of the team who was wiping down outside seats after a shower of rain that encouraged us to pick the pub for lunch today. 5 stars for food, friendliness, location and sheer choice of options.
