My husband and I went to a show at The Hippodrome. We decided to try this Restaurant prior to the show. We booked a table and just as well we did it was really busy. The two ladies greeted us with such a warm welcome and the atmosphere was without doubt relaxing. The aroma from the kitchen was amazing. We were taken to our table and we looked through the menu. I haven't got any experience about Thai food but my husband has been on holiday a few times and he told me about his favourite dishes. We decided on a stir fry dish with King prawns basil and chillies. We opted for the hand cut chips. The flavours were so amazing and the chips were the best I've ever had. My husband calls me nosey lol.. as I like to chat and find out about people's heritage. I learnt that the ladies are mother and daughter Yosita and Pat.. the relatively new owners. Having lived in Thailand for many years, I can confidently say that Banrai Thai Restaurant delivers an incredibly authentic experience. From the first bite, the flavors transported me straight back to the bustling street markets and family-run eateries of Bangkok. The attention to detail in every dish, from the perfectly balanced spices to the fresh ingredients, was truly outstanding.
Beyond the amazing food, the staff were absolutely wonderful, so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. Their warm hospitality made the entire experience even more enjoyable. To top it off, the prices were very reasonable, offering excellent value for such high-quality, authentic Thai cuisine.
If you’re looking for a real taste of Thailand, this is the place to go. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be back! Right opposite the civic theatre and near the train station so perfect...
Read moreYou will not find better Thai food than this in the North and trust me I’ve tried them all. Thai food is my favourite and having spent most of my life in London I’m ever chasing the dream.
I’m not one but they have a HUGE Vegan choice. Practically a whole other menu actually.
Parking to the rear. Pay and display. Loads as close to the theatre but on a show night might be a push.
This restaurant is a game changer. Finally some authentic Thai food that hasn’t been bought pre made, isn’t terribly cooked by English people.
Superbly priced and cocktails also an absolute treat.
Staff had beautiful manners and vibes.
The only problem now, keeping me away!
Thank you Lord Bejesus for this sweet blessing. Amen. hallelujah.
Oh, and we have kids and they also absolutely LOVED IT. Which is so rare I can count the other times dinner has been so easy...
