3 ladies went for a meal last week and never ever will they be going back there again. 2 had Indian Meals which were actually nice but just cold and the other lady ordered Chicken and chips. Prior to ordering the waitress was asked if the chicken was a chicken breast due to the ladies illness, the waitress went to.ask and she came back to say yes. So the lady ordered that and said please put no cucumber on my plate at all as she was allergic to it. When the plate came out it had cucumber on it so she had to send it back. Sadly at this point the waiter in the dark blue shirt seemed to get quite snappy. He came back within a few minutes, not only was the chicken like frozen chicken nuggets the chips were freezing. So the waiter was called over the same one and she said her dinner was cold and he said very aggressively that no its not cold, she then said to the waiter you try then. He got a fork and tested one and before taking it back he said you have had the plate on the table 5 minutes already and that the new plate was fresh. Obviously he had a problem with criticism, he then came back with chips in a wire rack that had just been cooked and were red hot. The meal was 7.95 for frozen chips and what looked like chicken nuggets. The meal was definitely not worth the money and the portion looked like a child portion. So again when the waiter came over the same one again she said it's not worth the money and that the waitress at the beginning shouldn't of said the chicken was a breast. He wouldn't listen to the complaint even though it was done in a calm tone, the other waiter then came over and said pay then go and don't come back. When going to pay the 7.95 was still on the bill, and after going to Indian Restaurants for over 20 years never ever has any waiter in an Indian behaved in such an aggressive way, why should a meal be paid for if the person hasn't eaten it or enjoyed it. Both waiters said they were the Managers and demanded payment for all otherwise they would call police. The waiter in the blue shirt looked very angry and frightening so a camera off the mobile took a photo of the waiter but really they were trying to take a video as they were scared. Then the waiter just lost it they thought he was going to hit them so they £40 on the counter for £39 Bill and said they would sort it out the next day but when the disabled lady went to leave the angry waiter stopped them from leaving and shoved her, her friend had to go help her to get the door open. So although the restaurant we siphoning police so was the customers. The police came and said it was a Civil Matter and not a Police Matter apart from when the waiter used physical force. The police then went in to see the...
Read moreCash only, which is strange, Full priced menu when we visited on a quiet Wednesday night, the food was acceptable, not wow or amazing but the base level, I'd expect from an Indian restaurant. Asked for one dish to be fairly hot, menu advice is to ask what level you'd like, it arrived and it was like a pasta sauce, not a hint of spice. I can accept that as everyone is different. What causes the two stars is the behavior of the next table, they were allowed to swear, make other diners feel uncomfortable and when they left an argument how they had short changed the restaurant was heard by all. When paying my bill in full- I passed comment to the manager?? How he'd given them too much rope and their behavior was unacceptable,I felt it had made others and me and the wife uncomfortable. He replied he'd told them twice before we arrived to quiet down/stop swearing and acknowledged they had underpaid by £20. Overall based on my visit I...
Read moreJust been out for my first meal post lockdown at Bengal Spice and thought I’d share my experience, for those who are abit wary of going out.
These guys are a great example to others, automated sanitiser on arrival (no touch required), markings all over for social distancing, seating was great and well spread out (utilising the space they have).
All staff were wearing protective visors and protective screens are placed between all tables, which are wiped immediately after customers leave.
The social distancing rules and standards were impeccable, I couldn’t pick a fault with anything they’ve done to protect us all.
The food was at its same very high standards that I always enjoy, by far the best Indian in Redcar and surrounding areas for me.
Take a visit if you can, this place did a lot for our carer’s during the pandemic and it’s now our turn to help them out during these testing times for the whole...
