Big 10 - Smoke & Grill — Restaurant in England

Went here last year and had a lovely meal , menu was extensive and the food was great although service a little slow. I don't mind waiting for slow service if the food is good , which it was.

This time though service was quicker , but food was not good in the slightest. Menu has been dramatically reduced to basically wings , burgers and ribs.

I had wings and ribs . The wings were nice but the ribs seemed like they had been cooked with napalm. I was starving but ate them anyway, my wife's we inedible and were sent back and replaced with a lovely new set. Everyone else's food was nice apparently as no one had complaints.

The issues I have is the drink we ordered . We ordered a pitcher of mojito . It wasn't a nice drink at all, too sour and tasted like there was no alcohol in it and also there was only 2 mint leaves in it . This was poured into two glasses and literally a sip taken from each and then sent back to the bar as we didn't feel it was correct. When given the bill the mojito was still on it , we told the manager that we didn't drink it and we weren't going to paying for it , he then proceeded to argue with us about it , until my wife had to really dig her heels in and it got really awkward.

The manager did eventually take it off the bill but no before an awkward argument in the front of house.

Such a shame as this was a really nice experience last year. We love to support local business but will not be...

We celebrate special birthdays at our company and one of our employees requested Big10 as their birthday lunch. Having never eaten there before I wasn't sure what to expect but I put my request in for them to cater a lunch for around 30 people to be available for 1pm. The ordering process was quick and easy and the pricing was extremely reasonable. in all honesty we were not expecting them to be able to accommodate our corporate lunch request, but they did. We collected the food at 1pm from the shop. the food was perfectly packed and they even allowed us use of their thermal bags which kept the food hot. we served up the food (of which there was ample) to our staff. we had, ribs, three different flavours of chicken wings, flavoured fries and coleslaw. the food was some of the most flavoursome I have ever had. the meat on the ribs was so succulent falling from bone with ease. the chicken wings also bursting with flavour. even the staple fries and coleslaw were next level nice. everyone who had the lunch expressed that it was some of the nicest they have ever had. I now have ample requests from staff for big10 to be their birthday lunch. Thank you to Rich and the team at Big10 for such amazing food...

Just found this gem of a place whilst walking around Ampthill, the staff are so friendly and welcoming, they made a great mocktail for me even though it's not on the menu and pints are served in proper glass tankards which I love. I had the best beef brisket I've ever tried (should have gone for 1/2lb instead of 1/4lb but thought that would be a bit greedy) with a fabulous supersalad (this is big enough for 2 people if you're having other side's) and amazing sweet potato fries. We were seated upstairs and it's very chilled out, with Reggie music in the background. Love the posters of 80's films and various music poster's. Will definitely be coming back...
