Yakamoz Meze Bar — Restaurant in England

Never reviewed a meal before. What happened:

My three friends had a shared meze between them. I mistakenly went for a separate dish. This is where things went rather bizarre.

I ordered a Chef Special as a main (Yag something Adana) costing around £22. If ever you make food and add a little too much tomato puree you'll have an idea of what I mean. The dish tasted like someone had squirted far too much tomato puree into it. I couldn't eat it. I complained to the waiter and he just looked at me; the most bizarre reaction I've ever seen. My friend offered to eat it (he'll eat anything). I had some of my friends shared meze, which was very good.

I didn't eat much as I was taking the shared food of my friends. Had a sandwich when I got home, which is, shall I say, quite an unusual thing to do after a reasonably expensive meal out.

Another waiter came over to take our plates away and I explained, in as simple terms as I could, how it tasted. Unfortunately, my friend, who can eat anything, finished it (he did admit it was hard going, which is about as damning as it gets). The waiter just laughed. What do you do when that happens?

For the first time, I left no tip. Fortunately, my friends saw what happened to me and agreed to...

UPDATE! I returned to this restaurant tonight 8th November, to celebrate my birthday. WHAT A TRANSFORMATION in the service we received! Everything was perfect - the food outstanding; the service was exceptional; the atmosphere was relaxed; the chefs and waiting staff were ‘on their game.’ We will be recommending this restaurant to friends and WE WILL RETURN!!! Well done! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Recommend the sharing platter for four people!!!

OLD REVIEW Went for dinner last night as part of a group of 10. The restaurant is beautiful, and it was packed out. The staff were very friendly. Unfortunately, we had to wait for 1hour 30 minutes for our main courses to be brought to the table - we did not have starters. HOWEVER, when the food did arrive, it was extremely tasty, and well presented. The manager rectified the situation, and will use this as a learning curve. We WILL return because the restaurant hadn’t been open for very long and this situation was very new to them. Maybe limit the number of covers per sitting? Maybe, for large parties, pre-order system to be put into place, together with a deposit??? These are just suggestions. This will be a very successful venue when ‘issues’...

I can't recommend this restaurant enough, the food was divine, the atmosphere was second to none, the servers were lovely and professional, and the owners are super friendly and are passionate about great tasting authentic Turkish food. This is such a lovely place for a date night, or a family get together, birthday celebratio or any occasion to be honest.

I went with my 3 month old and my husband for a birthday celebration and it was amazing. There was baby changing facilities in the toilet which was amazing. At first I was worried about how I could get to the restaurant as it's in the basement but the owners let me come from the back of the restaurant which doesn't have any stairs, you just need to let them know when booking your table so they know when to expect you.
